Another One Bites The Dust

Bolton Wanderers 0 Liverpool 1 Sunday 31st October

An 86th minute goal from Maxi Rodriguez was enough to secure our second victory in two league games, but it didn’t come easy, as Bolton are not a side to lay down easily, and they didn’t this match either, they fought to the bitter end and gave a very close game that we were fortunate to win in the end.

We played much better, more free flowing, football than we had for a while in this game, so we did deserve something out of the game, but we didn’t play as well as we know that we can do. It definitely makes a difference when Gerrard and Meireles are in the centre as Gerrard can go and do what he does best from the middle and Meireles can do his job in the middle of the park as well, and then you also have the potential for the Portugese midfielder to go forward and make stuff happen which he has a tendency to do, which helps to open up the game as well.

I would have to say that we are starting to get better but that we are not the finished article yet and could do a hell of a lot better, but that six points out of six is a pretty good tally for the last two games, compared to the amount of points we had managed to get in the first ten games anyway.

Hopefully this will stop some people from calling for Roy Hodgson’s head as he now has a little bit of a run going, and is top of the group in the Europa League group stage. Of course this might all change if we lose the next game, and the callings will start in force again.

I am just glad that we have won the last two games and am confident that we can carry on and win more game that we will lose over the rest of the season. I don’t think that we will finish higher than we did last year but I reckon that we will do about as well as I thought we would this year and probably finish about the same as we did last year.

It would be great if we finished higher but the way the other clubs who will be vying for that position are also playing quite well, so it will be a struggle, but it isn’t beyond the realms of possibility, yet.
