If there is one team I admire for how they treat their great players it is Bayern Munich. Their current president is no one other than their legend Uli” Hoeneß who would be remembered for being part of the West German squad that won the 1974 World Cup and of course the Bayern squad that dominated Europe from 1973 to 1976. The chairman of the club’s board is former hit man Karl-Heinz Rummenigge who in the 80s was Bayern’s answer to Ian Rush.
This is nothing new as the Bavarian giants have a tradition of keeping their legends involved in the club and appointing them to high positions. Their greatest player, Franz Beckenbauer “Der Kaiser” has also served as President of the club and has held several positions within the club.
So why can’t Liverpool appoint Kenny Dalglish as chief executive? Some might come up with the age old excuse “he has no experience”. Did Christian Purslow have any experience about running a football club before he was appointed? When it comes to footballing matters no one out there comes close to Kenny. On top of being a footballing genius (he has proved it on the field and in the dug-out) the man has been a shining example of what the Liverpool Way is all about.
He (Kenny) has seen his former teammates become media pundits and trash the club, the king instead takes up a thankless position with the club as “Ambassador” going around smiling and opening club shops.
Come on give the king his crown back, he has earned it and it is good for our club. Fellow Liverpool Supporters trust Kenny more than anyone else because we all know that no one loves Liverpool F.C. more or has done more for our club than Kenny Dalglish.
