Alberto Aquilani against Roma [video]

Posted by

Thanks to @milankakabaros for the video below showing Alberto Aquilani in action for Juventus against Roma yesterday.

The former Roma star carried Juventus and even created the goal for the Bianconeri. The game ended 1-1 however everyone drooled about Alberto’s performance.

Aquilani is still a Liverpool player however he is on a season loan to Juve.

  1. This makes me think whether Aquilani would’ve been a better choice than Cole or not.
Coz we all know Aquilani was loaned out to compensate for Cole’s high wages :/

  2. Bring Alberto back, he is way better than Poulsen. Sending a £20 million pound player out on loan isn’t a luxury that Chelsea or Man City have. We take Poulsen of Juventus hands for £5 Million and give them Alberto on season long loan.

Insua is better than Konchesky as well., and he is out on loan to.

Hodgson these are bad moves you made.

  3. Thing is in italy its more of an open play situation…here in the Prem he would have been closed down by many players not giving him time to play or turn on the ball…if he played like that at Liverpool then i guess we would never have loaned him out…am sure in the Prem he would have picked up several injuries by now…still it was a good performance against Roma..Well done Aquilani…lets hope on his return to us he has matured and shrugged of his prone injury problems…we could do with him right now

  4. juve must be happy.. selling poulsen to liverpool and getting a world class midfielder in aquilani on loan for free and buying him on the cheap next season. exellent business from juve, but hodgson got this terribly wrong.

  5. @Ken
Mate, sorry to bring in some bad news for you but Aquilani has already said that he wont be coming back :/

  6. The yawning pace of Italian soccer suits him to a T. Not that Italian soccer is boring but it is too technical for the brutish british game. As long as heplays at that pace in Italay he will not be suitable for Liverpool… YNWA

  7. tbf, he’d be playing on the wings under Hodgson (if he got on the pitch at all) so he wouldn’t have been picking out passes like that for us.

We really do have to get rid of Hodgson asap, while the likes of Riijkaard remain available and the likes of City & Roma maintain patience with their disappointing managers

  8. @Karam…Thanks for the heads up ;)

..then i guess the pace of the Prem was a bit more than he could handle..bye bye Aquilani…what a waste of money !!

  9. Antoher good performance from Aquilani. He is all but gone, if Juve want him, they have got him. We have no say in the matter. Can’t beleive we have got into this situation.

  10. Seems like people have forgotten the clause in Aquilani’s contract that Juve have the option to buy him at the end of the season if things work out there. The better he plays for them less likely he’s coming back to Liverpool. So with that in mind can we just forget about Aquilani.

  11. “The speed of the games is slower in Italy”. I seem to rememeber that near the end of last season, after coming back from injury, Aquilani had quite a few good games when he played. I was one of those calling for him to be gven a chance. Thanks to on dimensional Roy and some of our fans who want instant success, Juve will be rubbing their hands with glee.

  12. obviously aquaman is only playing that good because he is playing against his old club, so he has something to prove to the italian press and his old team mates, just looking at his face before the game kicked off and you could tell he wanted to prove something, his closing down also showed that. still believe aquaman is a better option than cole, i don’t care if cole is english, because not only is he off the pace, but he is clearly unfit for some reason. would have liked aqua in our team this season.

  13. No doubt in his talent, but the problem is his step seems to match with his homeland’s speed of the game. Unfortunately, he couldn’t adapt to EPL which the speed is very much faster and the attack is very much harder.

By the way, I still want him back and let him prove himself worth the club’s 17 million precious investment on him.

  14. Have to agree with Jack, the premier league is alot quicker, you dont get that much time on the ball. Where Alberto is different, he truely did not get a fair crack at Anfield, should of been starting alongside Stevie and Lucas this season

  15. Not a great advert for Aquilani. in 4 minutes of edited video, about 30 seconds was of one pass for the goal which was a poor cross made to look good by a great 1st time finish from the striker. about the 1st minute was of him blocking the ball in fairly poor challenges that would not have taken the ball from more aggressive play in the premier league and a couple of hollywood passes which Gerrard does under much more intense pressure with his eyes shut or a short sideways and backwards pass to let others open up the opposition.

Not a great player, £14m was too much when we paid it and nothing on here suggests otherwise. I guess this goes to prove what a poor decision it was to bring in Poulsen who looked slow and not great in this league and we expected him to dominate midfield in the Liverpool team.

I wouldn’t want Aquilani back anyway, but certainly not on this clip.

  16. Aquilani looked good whenever he played. Poulsen and Meireles look a little lost to me. Meireles is not as creative as aquilani. Aquilani’s passing was very good. Almost as good as Alonso, possibly better.

Why was he sent out on loan?

  17. Better than xabi u must be sniffing glue harm Jesus Christ no one ever seems to give Alonso the credit he truely deserves for his time at Liverpool. Whenever he played Liverpool played he dictated the play superbly. always lookin for the ball even if it was only for a 2 yard pass but that man is the main reason why Liverpool have played so badly over the last 2 seasons the worst piece of buisness Rafa ever did at the club and that says alot. U never really do appreciate something till it’s gone and for anyone to even have Alberto aqualini and Alonso in the same sentence should be shot

  18. He won’t be getting in BPL even half of the space he has in Serie A. Good performance there cannot guarantee the same in England.
