West Ham got hammered

Or ever better said: humiliated. Once again after a poor match the Reds seemed exchanged as they produced some quality football and won 3:0 over West Ham United on Saturday evening at Anfield.

Steven Gerrard’s injury furrowed our brows but luckily the worries were for no reason.  And the  Captain, who was watching the match from the stands, was really enjoying himself.  As we all did, didn’t we? Finally we got to see some good football and a good, deserved victory.

Furthermore, the whole team performed very well. There wasn’t really any player who didn’t play well. N’Gog, Meireles, Kuyt, Torres, Maxi, Konchesky, Carragher, Skrtel … they all produced a decent performance.

Even Christian Poulsen looked good! Or at least better than recently. Which is good, I feel glad for him and maybe this means he’ll start deliver eventually.

Furthermore, it has to be said, we finally played like a team, which was a pleasure to watch, and the reason why it worked out. While Johnson opened the scoring for Liverpool with an awe-and-some goal, it was fellow full-back Paul Konchesky who supplied the assist for Maxi’s header which effectively sealed victory for the home side. So glad for Glen who really needed the goal to stop the critics, and after that he looked much more assured than usual. Dirk? Great job as well, working hard as usual and with his assists we should have scored more.

West Ham was really, really poor. Their supporters start to leaving the stadium even before the second half began! The team didn’t have many ideas but we looked pretty balanced for once, which was down to Meireles in the middle. It was Meireles’s best performance for us because he was played in his right position in the middle from where he practically bossed the game. As I mentioned it few times before, he is getting better and better with every match and making himself irrecoverable. Thankful we’ve got him!

Prior to this encounter Carragher said the lads have to show what they are made of, now when Steven Gerrard is injured. Did the lads show that? Definitely.

I do not want t spoil the party but did we look that good, because West Ham was that poor?  I hope not. I hope it was a sign of a real progress.

My MOTM? Maxi or Raul … hard to choose, but I’ll go for Raul Meireles once again. Very, very, VERY good work by the Portuguese.
