Kenny Dalglish’s return…

Not so long ago, the manager of Liverpool Football Club didn’t hope to win the League, he was expected to win it, maybe along with either the League Cup, FA Cup or even the European Cup, first is first, second is nowhere, that was the job.

Kenny Dalglish returns to the helm at Liverpool this weekend, and what a time to return, the club is enduring its worst season since 1992-93, when a certain Graeme Souness was in charge! Winning the League is now just a distant dream, a long but not quite forgotten memory.

Manchester United away in the FA Cup third round, live on TV for the footballing world to see, what a way to make a return as manager for the club you played for, and managed, winning 8 League Titles, 3 European Cups, 1 FA Cup, 4 League Cups, 4 Charity Shields + 1 shared, and 1 European Super Cup, all in a space of thirteen years! I’m sure at some point over the past 24-36 hours, Kenny must have sat down and thought ‘what the hell am I doing this for!’.

My only conclusion is that, it must be the same as you or I being single and meeting that drop dead gorgeous girlfriend / boyfriend from years ago that you always dreamed of having one more date with, and when you get that second chance no matter how much you want to say ‘no I’m not interested’, you just can’t help yourself, and it happens!! I truly hope that our beloved Kenny Dalglish can leave the job he has taken this weekend with the same adulation and respect that he has this weekend!
