Blackpool 2 Liverpool 1

Blackpool 2 Liverpool 1

It all started so well with Fernando Torres wonder strike early in the first half. After that I expected a glut of goals from us but sadly they never came. Blackpool equalised with a well taken goal from Gary Taylor-Fletcher and, in the second half, D J Campbell added a second.

We had a few chances, but they were few and far between, and a couple of bad lapses at the back led to the two Blackpool goals, so we can blame no one else for the defeat apart from ourselves.

Dalglish has bought to the club a sense of togetherness that was missing from the Hodgson side, and also a sense of urgency, which is showing in fits and starts in both this and the Manure game, but there is still lots of work to do judging by today’s result. I thought that we played better than we have done for a while tonight, but the result was the same old story.

I am hoping that the introduction of Steve Clarke into the backroom staff will see the defence start playing as a unit and actually marking opposing payers out of the game, quite a number of the goals we have conceded this season have been when players have been left unmarked in acres of space.

Here’s hoping that it will be third time lucky for King Kenny against Everton on Sunday!
