Liverpool – Everton (Sunday)

Posted by

After two losses on the road we return to Anfield as we host the bitter ones on Sunday afternoon, this will be Kenny Dalglish’s first home game since his return. We desperately need a good win to install the confidence back in our players and and I am sure that The Kop will be in full voice cheering up our gaffer and players.

Steven Gerrard is serving his second suspended game while Jamie Carragher and Joe Cole are still out injured. I think that Kenny will play most of the players that featured last Sunday against Manchester United with the exception of Steven Gerrard of course. Maybe Ryan Babel will team up with Fernando Torres to challenge the slow moving Distin?

Predicted Lineup:
Pepe Reina, Glen Johnson, Daniel Agger, Martin Skrtel, Fabio Aurelio, Lucas Leiva, Raul Meireles, Maxi Rodriguez, Dirk Kuyt, Ryan Babel, Fernando Torres

Kick off is at 2:05 PM GMT

The referee tomorrow will be Phil Dowd as Fergie will be resting Howard Webb.

  1. Lets hope RAUL doesn’t pull out of any fifty fifty balls, should be riena, kelly, skirttle, agger, aurilio, johnson right wing meireles, kuyt, cole, bable, torres.Cant wait for this and with the king back its all good so come on you mighty REDS

  2. Out wid a few of my blue nose mates 2moz plenty of banter and a nice few pints come on you mighty REDS ye ha.

  3. The team should be: Goalie: Reina. Rightback:Kelly. Centrebacks: Skyrtel and Wilson. Leftback: Aurelio. Rightwing: Johnson. Central Midfield: Lucas,Agger and Shelvey. Leftwing: Babel. Centreforward: Torres.

  4. Don’t think it would be such a bright idea bringing in Wilson and Shelvey for this game Kenny. There far too inexperienced for this type of game, we need players with a strong mentality. This ain’t a game for experimenting with our squad players. As for Agger in midfield…you must be joking.

Johnson definitely needs to go on the wing, at least try it. I’d play the following:

    Reina
    Kelly Kygriakos Agger Aurelio

Johnson Lucas ? Poulsen ? Babel

    Kuyt

    Torres

The squad is really poor at the moment, we need to scrape through this game and bring in some fresh faces cause what we have at the moment is not good enough.

  5. Well. I don’t think Distin is as bad as you say, and he would have been much better than Soto overall. I heard Cole is fit to play. Winning against Everton will give us three points, but will not be the cure.
Personally I would keep Pepe, Jamie, Stevie and Torres and rebuild a team around them. I hope Comolli won’t bring in just french speaking players…we need the best.
Blackpool beat us with a team which Holloway spent Stg 1 million to build…..that’s less than one week’s wages for the 11 Reds that played on wednesday.
Sorry guys I am in no mood to be understanding!!!!!!!!!!!

  6. Tom, there is not much else to choose from friend. There is one question: commitment. Blackpool ran more than us, pressed more than us, and wanted to win more than us. It does not take a star studded side. It takes a lot of hard work, 100% commitment and pride to wear one of the most prestigious in world football.

  7. Its an big game for meireles, since the wolves game he has
looked out of sorts and im not feeling that he pulls out of tackles
(that has cost us a red card and a goal in our last two games) A
part of me would like Shevely to start, there’s something about him
that I like and I think if he was given the chance he would take
it. Its happened before when a young player has come in and has
done really well (Rob Jones vs man u and Neil Mellor v Aresnal) it
gonna be a great tense game….4-4 maybe hehe

  8. I have a feeling that Kelly will get the nod at RB.
Johnson’s continually being caught out in defense and with the
likelihood of both Baines and Pienaar operating down his flank, I
don’t think he’d stand up to the challenge. Could be an opportunity
to test Johnson out on the right of midfield. He at least has a bit
more pace than Maxi or Kuyt and would hopefully pin Baines back.
Whatever ends up being the case, our right flank is where the game
    will be won or lost.

  9. Webb is not the referee today for our game as Rooney is injured so Red Nose will be starting him with Berbatov upfront against Spurs.
