A call for the return of decency

In the last few days, news of Liverpool’s interest of Charlie Adam has escalated, and today when Charlie Adam handed in his transfer request, it looked like it would be over sooner rather than later. But then when it was confirmed by Ian Holloway and Blackpool that the request had been denied, it once again showed Liverpool FC can’t do things the easy way.

Not to say that Blackpool were right in rejecting his transfer request, as simply you shouldn’t force a player to stay where he doesn’t want to be, however if number’s Blackpool manager Ian Holloway has claimed Liverpool’s bid was then you can’t blame the club for rejecting the bids. For a player in Adam’s form and quality £4million lacks respect, and is almost a joke in all honesty. He’s clearly an invaluable player to Blackpool, so unless FSG are willing to cough up an eight figure sum for the player, then we should start looking elsewhere. However, a minority of fans don’t see it that way, and that’s the reason of this article.

According to Sky Sports News, Ian Holloway is a tweeter, and seeing as his interviews are usually entertaining, then I figured it was worth following him, and he’s a pretty good manager too. Unfortunately the previous mentioned minority also knew Holloway was on twitter, and figured it was a good idea to send him abuse, about not letting Charlie Adam go to Villa or Liverpool, and because Blackpool are a “small club”, maybe it’s time for a wake up call, Blackpool have beat Liverpool twice this season, and are just one point behind Liverpool with a game in hand. Maybe some people should show the man some respect? Not just that, but when Holloway took over as manager they were relegation candidates in the Championship, and that was 18months ago. Not only that, but unlike so many newly promoted top flight teams, he’s done so playing in his own style.

I guess that’s just part of the job, and part of the risk of having an online presense, and The Dalglish’s, Babel, Lucas, John Henry and his wife have all recieved unwarranted abuse on twitter, for idiotic Liverpool fans or other clubs. Not to say that if if Liverpool player has a bad game, then nothing should be said to him, but telling them you hope they die, or they’re goint to rape their parents(Yes, that’s the kind of stuff people send them) is not only stupid, but never warranted. The fact is when a Liverpool fan sends Ian Holloway, or whoever else abuse, for not selling his star player on the cheap, or to Rio Ferdinand, just for playing for Man United, you give Liverpool fans a bad name, and you’re an embarrassment to the club you support.
