Onwards and Upwards

Liverpool 1 Fulham 0

Another game brings another win. How few times we have been able to say that this season?

It was a scrappy goal that settled the tie in the end, but they all count and it certainly wasn’t for want of trying on our behalf.

In the first half alone there was the goal that was disallowed by Nando in the first half (which was never offside in the memory of man), plus half a dozen other chances where we could have put the game to bed in the first period.

The second half was a different kettle of fish with Fulham getting more into the game, due to our inability to keep the ball and, to be honest, if it wasn’t for the heroics of Pepe Reina and Raul Meireles the score might have been different.

We didn’t create much in the second half but we managed to get a goal off the shin of John Pantsil so the three points go to us. Either side could have won the match but with a bit of luck on our side it was us to proved to be the victor, and it was nice to have a two match unbeaten run to go into the FA Cup enforced break.

It is nice to see the players actually enjoying themselves playing for the club once more, and actually attacking the other team’s goal. If only we could keep that level of play up for the whole 90 minutes then we might see more definitive victories and see us consolidate ourselves in the top half of the table.

The signs are looking good now and I hope that we can carry on the way we have been playing over the past few weeks and, hopefully, there will be a couple of new names appearing in a red shirt over the next couple of weeks.

The future is bright for the moment, let’s hope it remains so.
