Just another day in the LFC Offices…

To say that today has been filled with ups and downs would be an understatement, but that’s just the Liverpool way I guess.

When I woke up this morning, the headlines were all about Chelsea having yet another bid for Torres rejected, and just like many Liverpool fans I wasn’t surprised that Chelsea were back in for him, and happy to see that the club had issued a statement saying Torres was not for sale.
Then of course came more bad news with sources claiming that Torres actually wants to leave, and I got a little bit concerned, as many sources were also claiming that he is happy at Liverpool, including the man himself just 20 days ago.

Then luckily some good news, Ajax and Liverpool came to a deal for Suarez(Finally), and Kenny gets his big signing, and hopefully Torres gets that quality striker to play with, and keep him happy. LFC.TV went into overload and rightly so, Suarez is a big name player, and has a growing reputation, and possibly one of very few men who not only have the guts to take Kenny’s old number, but someone who has the potential to live up to it’s significance.

But then of course, another big Torres bullet hits, with many sources claiming that Torres is in fact pushing for the deal to go through, and Chelsea getting ready to come back with another bid, and with the supposed £50 million buy out clause, is it time to panic? Maybe so.  If Torres is sold now, Liverpool need to act fast to get a replacement, but who is there, and of course we’d like to have some of the Torres money to go into other area’s of the squad too? Even with our new owner’s we can’t afford the likes of Aguero or Pato. We lost out on Adebayor, and I seriously doubt Mourinho will sell Benzema to Liverpool. Lopez? Huntelaar? Both very good strikers, but Torres quality? Definitely not, as well as needing time to settle, so unless Liverpool manage to get Anelka plus cash for Torres, we’d quite bad off, unless we all look torwards young David N’Gog to partner Suarez upfront. So Chelsea’s timing definitely isn’t great for Liverpool, and will should mean we’ll keep hold of Torres until the summer.

However keeping Torres against his will, will go one of three ways, either he’ll sulk and be off form, and his value plumet. He’ll play like we know he can play and attarct a bigger transfer fee, or he decides to stay, which seems unlikely.

If you’re Kenny Dalglish, you have two options. Do you keep Torres and risk our season, or sell him and hope you can find a replacement in 3 days?

  1. thats IF the story of him wanting to go is true. He could of gone in summer but he didnt . Im keeping faith in him to stay

  2. chelsea have shown an interest for over a year now so if we have not got a plan for this then we need to get one quick.i would use the money to buy 2 forwards lukaku and wolfswinkel, lukaku now and wolf on a pre for the summer.and we will also get a player from chelsea so we should look to fill any of our problem positions with that and we will be firing on all cylinders. i like torres as a striker but he is a whinger and injury prone lets cash in now and not lose out like we did with mcmanaman and owen

  3. if he says he want to go to chelsea of all teams having said how much he wants to stay and honour his contract blah blah i will lose all my respect for him and say i hope you have a shite time there but until it happens i will keep my powder dry

  4. another one taking sky sports news as the gospel he hasn’t come out and said anything and neither has the club remember sky said he was defintely signing for Man City in the summer and that was nowhere near true sky have an agenda against us

  5. You keep him until the end of the season, show him that the club is willing to invest in the summer by bringing in some real talent and tell him that he’s the number 1 striker for the foreseeable future and maybe buy him a house.

I think he’ll stay, all these ‘sources’ yet no quotes from Liverpool or Torres and the only source we do have is from the club saying, ‘He’s not for sale’

  6. Can’t say Torres leaving now makes sense. Getting Suarez shows commitment by the club and the reason Suarez wanted to come was to play with Nando and Pepe. @jenchang88 on twitter has been making good points all day.

  7. Well it’s apparently been confirmed that he wants to go. Hopefully we can organise a deal that nets us at least 40 million, although I’d be angling to draw out that 50 in his contract.

That’s a lot of cash to reinvest in other players, and while it’s a blow to lose someone of his quality, no single person is bigger than the club or irreplaceable.

  8. Untill i hear Torres say i want to leave, then ill believe he wants to go, untill then hes a red in my eyes. Surley with the signing Suarez that will show were this club wants to go!! Its gonna tell us alot about the new owners over the next couple of the days. So far im happy, lets finish in style, cmon red men!!!

  9. dont turn on him just yet he hasn’t said anything yet he might stay although all this pressure is getting to me, the joys of being a Liverpool fan I suppose

  10. Where does the we don’t have enough money for Aguerro rumour come from?
If we sell Torres and get Sturridge we fork out a little extra and get a talent much younger. Now if he would want to be part of the Liverpool revival is another matter. But just thinking logically why is money the issue.

  11. We need players that want to be Liverpool players to rebuild our club. No exceptions. What we lose blah blah is irrelevant. No one including Torres is bigger than the club. I hope he doesn’t go and this is all made up rubbish, but if he wants to leave, then off you go lad and good luck.

  12. Everyone is running around like headless chickens because of a story put out by the most ill informed idiot on the planet Guillem Balague and printed by the worst rag in the world The Sun. So let’s all calm down, Nando is going nowhere, in fact he said he would love to play with Suarez.

  13. Did he say before that he would not play for another english club and real madrid.More rubbish from shite sports. El Nino Dont go to the Rentboys porfavor. YNWA

  14. the liverpool website have published a statement saying they have rejected a written request put in by fernando. What a disgrace, he has been crying like a little bitch for investment, we buy a 22mil player and he hands in a tranfer request. If h has requested to go FUCK HIM nobody is bigger than our club

  15. Torres has handed in a transfer request. Absolutely gutted. We should try and sell him in the summer so we have more time to find a replacement. Hope Torres ends up realising that Chelski are a club in decline whereas we are on the up and decides to stay.

  16. Its being confirmed now on bbc he wants out and his transfer request has been rejected by the club,I think we should hold on to him till summer and sell him maybe not to a premier league club sell him out to spain, italy or Germany.sell Reina as well but not to premier league and sell Kuyt. All these players aren’t reliable enough they might want out especially when we needed them the most so before they act let’s act ahead of them. Then King kenny can go for his own calibre of players that would sweat blood and show 100% in every match with the money raised through their sales. As we all know the club is undergoing transitional process

  17. Why? How you can score to our goals, before your fans who cried and rejoiced together with you?… Which all these years one dream lived – to see as you play for us…”

  18. I would keep him until summer, and then after we secure a proper replacement, we should let him go. If he goes now there is no time left to do so.

  19. 50 million plus Sturridge sounds good to me. chances of Liverpool making Champions League this year are slim so that means Europe is at least a year and a half away. that’s a good amount of time buy a bunch more young talented players and redefine strategies, etc. FSG says they’re in it for the long term and are going to use an approach similar to Man U. bringing in damien comolli who is perhaps the best young talent scout in europe shows their intent to follow this strategy in contrast to clubs like Chelsea and Man City who look to simply buy their way into the top 4. FSG has the money to buy their way in also but its not good business in the long term. verdict: sell for 50 million plus Sturridge and give Comolli the rest of the year to pinpoint his summer targets which he should be able to buy easily with the extra cash. Also, quit screwing around and bring in Adams for 10m.

  20. It disappointing and frightening. A bittersweet moment if ever there was one. LFCtv has come out to say that they have turned his transfer request down. Very ill-timed Mr.Torres and right after the good news that we finally got Suarez to bolster our squad and take part of the load off your shoulders. I wouldn’t listen to crap like this until I saw it on LFCtv. WTF? SO now I’m thinking, did the request come before we got Suarez to force the owners hands or after the deal was done? If he does go we’re in a worse position with no striker as Suarez would need time to get used to life in the BPL. There are only 2 days to go and it means we have no one to replace him if it does happen. Climbing up the table with no striker or with one who’ll be sulking all the way. I just hope his request came before we got Suarez and not later. Remember El Nino. You said that Liverpool is your only english club. Looks like we need to get into the champions league and bolster the squad to appease the RED GODS. SAY IT ISN’T SO EL NINO! If it is, ‘THE CLUB IS BIGGER THAN ANYTHING ELSE’. After all we’ve been through… we’ll get to where we want to go with Kenny. YNWA.

  21. Shocking. That is all I can say. Never would have expected this from our beloved #9. Although I never would have expected Rooney to pull what he did either. Maybe it is a blessing in disguise.

Get 50m and balance our team. Bring in another 25m striker, a 15m winger, a 10m left back and a 15m center back. Altogether 4 world class players for only 15m out of pocket if we get 50m for Torres. It just makes sense to cash in. He is not irreplaceable. Just sucks because he could have been a legend.

Unfortanetly, we rarely get what we think we should on these transfers. And to think I spent the day pondering how we would adjust the formation to accommodate Torres and Suarez. Shame.

  22. he doesn’t need a better striker next to him, he needs a better midfield who can deliver the ball well.

  23. I dont understand our dear Torres. He is completely dissilusioned. Why would anyone want to move to Chelsea? The owner is a bully.Does what he wants with the club, coach and players. Ancellotti is not happy at the moment and it it seems the bad days we had the last few years will slowly creep into chelsea.Money cant buy you happiness. Can somenody tell Torres that Liverpool is now in better hands than any other place he would go. Anyways, I dont see him leaving unless we receive an insane amount of cash from him. Then we’ll use the cash to build a squad that will cause nightmares to teams accross europe. Unfortunately, Torres will not be part of the New LIVERPOOL PHENOMENON!
