  1. The bottom line is that Torres has revealed himself to be nothing but an arrogant, self-absorbed, disingenuous, ungrateful, lying “Prima donna”. If the truth be told, had he played NEARLY to his expected level (SOME players look everywhere except in the mirror, when trying to determine a club’s problems!) this season, rather than all too often, doing his best impersonation of a somnambulist, displaying poor body language (“POOR ME”), a decided lack of effort, Bobby Zamora-like finishing, and offering up a generally unacceptable (with a few notable exceptions) season-long campaign, it’s hardly a stretch to say that we’d have likely garnered another 8-9 points beyond our total to date.
I say, wait until the summer, sell him to Chelsea, use the funds to continue the rebuilding process, and sell your soul to the devil if he promises we would beat the Chavs out for the fourth spot next season. THAT would give new meaning to the phrase, “Poetic Justice.”

  2. I hope its not another frantic rumour by the brit media to mke us lose our footin.but if it true, the torres can take his pre maddona attitude 2 the blues.coz we bliv danglish has got great plans 4 us,n if torres doesnt want 2 b part of it then he can.chelski are offerin 40 mil plus sturridge then okay.

  5. At age one our son Peter was able to say Torres & recognise his picture everytime I’d read up on any Liverpool updates. Now at 2 (yes, two) he asks of his whereabouts & has a glow of excitement when he spots him on tv. And I assure I have not been force-feeding him Liverpool at all, even though we took him to Anfield just after he turned one, all the way from Australia.

I’ve been a Liverpool fan since I was a child and Im old enough to remember Dalglish play & then become manager. Although formerly a Celtic player, Dalglish will always be remembered as a Liverpool superstar along with being a loyal ambassador to his club & to the game.

We’ve had so many great players over the years, & in the more recent years some have come from Torres’ native country Spain, Alonso, Garcia, Reina, Morientes just to name a few. Reina has been an excellent & loyal servant for 7 seasons, truly one of the worlds leading goalkeepers & a superstar in his own right, & I can see him playing on for another 7.

As far as onfield players go, since Dalglish I must say that Torres has excited the most. In his first 2 seasons he was electrifying, last year Torres was excellent inspite of some interruptions due to injury. In the first half of this season Torres Liverpool showed faith in Torres who was clearly struggling to return to his best form following injuries, & it would be fair to say that if not for the ability we all know he has, & his superstar status, he would have been substituted regularly or not make the teamsheet.

Today, Torres is a Liverpool superstar and I realise that it is inevitible that this relationship will not last for ever. However, it is the time to stay solid & stay loyal – this is the best for all concerned, especially for Fernando Torres. Liverpool finished 2nd only 2 seasons ago. Although they havent won the league for since 1990, they are still the most successful English Club in terms of league & European titles go, and apart from a couple of exceptions finish in the Top 4 every year in one of the best leagues (& certainly the most watched) in the world.

You do not have to be a Liverpool fan to know how big Liverpool is worldwide, in terms of following we are up there with Real Madrid & our nemesis Man Utd,& no other club comes close.

Fernando, if you see out your contract or at least look to stay on next season, you will have completed 5 years to be a part of Liverpool folklore for many many years to come. People from all parts of the globe will talk about you the way we fondly talk about the likes of Kenny Dalglish, Kenny Murphy etc today.

If you stay, you will be part of the Liverpool revival. It has been a trying 18 months for all involved, players, officials & fans, but as a club we stick together through tough times & look to prosper together.

I am honestly hoping that the media have made a meal of it, milking a story for everything it is worth, as your superstar status helps sell papers. And, I never knock ambition if this is why you may be considering leaving.

Fernando, it’s time to put a line in the sand & say the bad times are behind us. The club doesn’t have the burden of a massive debt any more, or an uncertain future under irresponsible owners who broke promise after promise, causing a ripple effect of problems.

Everyone is excited about Liverpool’s future prospects, the evidence that things have turned the corner is there for all to see. Liverpool will not only survive without you but will prosper without you. However we don’t want you to go until you become a Liverpool Legend. Stars do fall out of the sky but legends never die.

About Chelsea, who were they a decade ago & almost every year prior? A mediocre club with little English support, hardly followed outside of England with 1 league trophy in their cabinet. Today they have money, but they still don’t have the following, the traditions or the success Liverpool have.

If one of your motivations is money, you can look to renegotiate your contract but as far as making a promising career move, the best move you can make is to stay where you are & turn on the style & score goals as you have done so on numerous occasions before. In a couple of years you may look to move back to Spain or perhaps Italy where you can say with pride that you were a star in some of the biggest clubs in the best leagues in the world.

For mine, stick out your contract. It’s a sure thing. The grass isn’t always going to be greener on the other side. If you feel that a move is your best option at the END OF NEXT SEASON, you will have at least honoured the majority of your contract, had the honour of being a Liverpool player for 5 seasons, & will be always welcomed back.

When Peter grows older, I would like to travel to England again & to Liverpool & see plenty of wall space dedicated to the superstar & legend that was Fernando Torres.

  6. Unlike tennis, football is a team game, and requires teamwork. If Torres (or anyone) wants to leave the team, then good riddance.

However, I see similarities between this and the Tevez situation not so long ago.

  7. IF he wants to leave, he should go ahead and do so. After all striker’s like shevchenko moves 2 chelsea and didn’t get it right there. It might be an opportunity to make out some cool cash out of him, who knows whether he will be inform next season.

  8. Chelsea will realize they wasted their money when he gets injured. lets not 4get the shameful display in the World Cup. the other Spaniards were way beyond Torres.

i prefer Sturridge + cash, he’s not tat bad of a player, a potential maybe. Liverpool should neva evolved around Torres, let him go.

  9. I agree with Barz. Sometimes (with increasing frequency) we seem to have to carry Torres through a game and we are left without any front man at all (last couple of games seem to buck this trend, but obviously that wouldn’t last for long in a red shirt)! We would be better off with a more committed player who has more skill on the ball and bothers to run without it? Granted his finishing may not be as accomplished as an inform Torres, but I think we’d benefit more than we do presently.

I also think it’s the new pass and move game that Kenny has implemented that has pushed Torres towards the exit, as he can’t pass and is too fucking sulky to move??!!

  10. Amelia + cash would be a great deal. Amelia was brilliant when he played for us, and never wanted to leave. He almost begged Rafa to sign him. Torres doesn’t seem to have it anymore.

  11. Anelka + cash would be a great deal. Anelka was brilliant when he played for us, and never wanted to leave. He almost begged Rafa to sign him. Torres doesn’t seem to have it anymore

  12. If he wants to go, let him. I would be crying inside if he did, but we don’t need a player who doesn’t want to play for us right now. Whatever happened to players putting on that jersey with the Liver-Bird on, touching the ‘This is Anfield’ tab on the way out of the tunnel, and they didn’t need their names on their back for us to know who they were! YNWA xx

  13. He plays up front for LFC,
    Suarez, Suarez,
He wants to play for King Kenny,
    Suarez, Suarez
We bought the lad from Amsterdam,
    He’s part of Kenny’s masterplan,
    Luis Suarez, Liverpool’s number 9

And then he proved he’s not a Red
    Torres, Torres
I’m off to Stamford Bridge, he said,
    Torres, Torres
He kissed the badge upon his chest,
    Handed in his transfer request,
Fernando Torres told us a pack of lies.

  14. Can’t believe how fast some of you turn on the guy! Firstly, he made his request on Friday, possibly at the same time the Suarez deal. He may have thought that we were silly farting around with 12.7 million offers. Secondly, even his declaration of loyalty on 10th Jan had a warning when he said ‘that depends on the club’. Thirdly, it is unlikely that Chelsea did not know he was unsettled, so how did we not know? and you could argue that he made his request so late because he was giving us every chance to pull our finger out and start signing some players. 300 million for the club was a decent price. There should have been 50 million available for immediate strengthening of the team. The 5 year plan is no good to Torres. Why should he want to stay and win nothing? At the moment, we had the club offering 12.7 million for Suarez when they had sold one of the more sellable assets we have for 6 million. I reckon the penny pinching he was witnessing made him decide that enough was enough. Even Villa put their hand in their pocket, and they’ve won 3 on the bounce now. The miraculous increase in the Suarez bid is not a coincidence and does not indicate that we are going full steam ahead to strengthen now. If we make promises to our players, we should keep them.

And John Procter, that Liverpool shirt is a year old, plus she is Danish, so the might explain the Carlsberg advertising, you numpty.
