How many goals will it take for Chelsea to forget the past?

Posted by

I know the subject of Torres wanted move to Chelsea has been beat to death. It is so old now and there is so much said about it. Trust me; I would like nothing better than to write about Luis Suarez, new signings, games, and fans. Everything else has been over shadowed by Torres’ request to leave. That and the lack of any new news today has me dwelling over Nando’s change of heart.

This got me thinking, what do Chelsea fans think of the transfer talk? Torres has had multiple run-ins with Chelsea players in the past three years. The most memorable in my mind is at Torres’ Anfield debut. Fernando ran into Terry on two occasions prompting John Terry to confront the Spaniard. He was obviously not saying nice words to Torres, but he was fresh of the plane from Madrid and did not understand much English. Of course Torres got the jist of it and there were a few harsh words said on the field.

Torres has also not had a good history with Chelsea fans. He accidentally celebrated a goal in front of them, and from there it has been down hill. They have been almost worse than Manchester United fans at singing degrading songs about him and being openly critical of him.

There has been a lot of talk about if Liverpool fans can forgive Torres if he ends up staying. But if he does leave, can Chelsea fans forget the past he has had with them? Maybe if he gets enough goals they can forget anything.

  1. Chelsea fans will forgive him if he simply joins them but fernando remember this u promised us Liverpool fans u would always play for us u said u would certainly not go to another English team u pledged to see out Ur contract u broke so many promises my Torres jersey hasn’t been worn since u demolished chelsea under Roy but remember red is your true color and u always have my support but I will still be a huge lfc fan but Torres u will always have a home on the red side of merseyside

  2. If he scores 10 goals in his first 10 games, they’ll forget immediately. If he pulls his hammy, tweaks his groin, and misses 3 months, they’ll show up to his house with torches and pitchforks.

  3. Look what happened to Yossi, Nando!!!!! We know you are already injured prone!!! I miss Yossi, he would of filled in that left wing great this year. Yossi and Meireles’ creativity….Unstoppable!!!

  4. I think that mr torres should take a chance to realise what he is leaving at our great club, and he should think about our most recent player that wanted to ‘leave’ liverpool for chelsea, yossi benayoun….. The guys carrer is over in my eyes….. And if torres is to move I would wish him well, because all players should remember they are not irreplacible!!!

  5. lets just get rid of Torres for good; we lost many games bcos of his attitude.he cant even play for Spain, whats all the crying out loud about anyway?

get Llorente, we’ll end up top four. Llorente + Suarez = Deadly.

    YNWA folks!!!

  6. Laughably desperate. He wears blue, he’s got our backing.

Torres may not end up at Chelsea this window, but seeing you lot squirm and unleash the classic Merseyside self-pity has been splendid enough.

  7. He needs to realize what he’s doing is career suicide! There’s no way the Chelsea boys can adore him as much as we do!
Still can’t believe someone will leave LFC for a spiritless club full of passionless chavvy fans based in a rubbish city with no soul!!

  8. FCUK you Farty and FCUK you Torres, bring in the cash we have already brought in a replacement now we can but 3 top players. We are on the road to recovery, Chelsea you are a load of old farts enjoy you decline. YNWA. A nd just one more thing Chelsea fans, you keep saying we are bitter? Who’s captain cried like a baby and the fans even today go on about did Garcia’s shot cross the line, the truth is robably not but we went on to win the best comp out there, how many of them you got. shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

  9. Torres can`t half moan but he`ll need proper lessons off Drogba
and how to fall easier and how to swear at camera`s yada yada yada.

  10. 50 million plus anelka would be fantastic business for liverpool especially for a player whose heart hasnt been at the club this season is his improved form down to woy leaving and king kenny taking the helm or the fact the transfer window opened and he wanted him self in the shop window only those close to him will ever know i say take the money and thank you nando youve given us so many memeories but you are not bigger than our club goodbye and good luck in an ageing side with as many plastic fans as plastic flags those same fans who sing that your a transvestite while we bounce at your every goal i hope u get you move nando but beware what u wish for you may just get it

  11. Torres why do you even care about what these loserpool fans will think. Forget them. Have you won anything under Liverpool? It’s time you moved on to better teams, like CHELSEA. GoChelsea

  12. I was once a fan of torres. When he signed for Liverpool I lost All my respect for him Coz I knew he wouldnt even get a glimpse of a medal from that team. Now I’m happy fo him Coz he came to his senses. Yay

  13. He’ll have to learn how to conduct illegal stadium tours for 10k too. Line his pockets a bit more.
He needs to go now. Let the lottery winners take him- he holds the club record now for the amount of games you can sulk for.
Their high paying fans will welcome him in alright- a lot of fans are just as mercenary as the players.
I think he should remember though, he won a Euro Champ medal and world cup medal in a great team, if he wins anything with this lot then I’m sorry but it will have been bought with Abramovich’s dodgy money.
It’s that lot and now man city that are responsible for some of the PL’s demise in quality. Hyperinflated transfer fees and wages.
I for one cant wait to see Suarez make his debut. Lets keep the purse strings open this summer and bring in a few more. The best answer we can give El Whino is success on the pitch.

  14. The people sat in the stands at Stanford bridge arnt chelski fans they know nothing about football and probley don’t remember a game that far back. There’s as much Passion at that club as there is history… and we all know that ain’t got none…
The people there don’t care about the club, players or football, I mean where was they before Roman ???

  15. I’m probably one of the few fans not heart broken about Torres request. when he joined us pool was a different club than it is now, BUT three and half years later so is Torres.

its his pace or lack of it that makes it very hard for him to get goals. when you saw him scoring a lot in the early days it was his quick drop of the shoulder and race past the player that made up a huge number of goals. he has tried doing that this year against some fast and even not so fast defenders and nothing . it hasn’t happened. if you think I’m wrong , after 20 starts for pool how many one v one with goalies has he scored from. exactly. dam all. he just can’t get into those positions to have a shot on goal.

in top flight football its all about the slightest of margins. that extra burst of pace, the quick spin of the back of a defenders. this margin of difference means you score either 15 goals a season or 30. any player who loses their pace is naturally a weaker player unless they have more skills in the bag. I’m afraid nando is a center forward without this and it shows in his overall game.

if he stays take a good look how each time he gets the ball a tackle comes in before he gets away. he gets annoyed with refs but they can’t keep giving frees for minor contact.

I think he has given us one great season really. I can’t approve of the hero worshipers when he hasn’t produced it season after season. please forgive me Liverpool brothers but by worshiping someone with one good season you kinda belittle the giants like Rush etc of the past who did it continuously. you can’t drop your nickers for every sailer that arrives on the shore, just the ones who come back every time.

Jesus I know I sound awful but I would have secretly engineered his departure last year when I saw how slowed up he was. I don’t hold players up to any value until they put in a few good seasons. when he arrived I read two things that worried me. one, his previous club never played champions league football with him in the team, and second his goal tally wasn’t as high as players of his age that became successful at Liverpool. I thought are we signing a kid with potential or ,what we really needed, a complete striker.

I wish nando the best in his career. money has guided him to the blues. I have two friends who are chelsea fans. these are not happy men about this signing. they don’t believe you can change the physical in a player -if he is injury prone he will always be that way. thanks for reading this rather long post.

  16. Started the tranfer window with about 30 Mil – 23 for suarez + 6 for babel leaves 13 mil. Add 45 for torres plus player. is 58. I would take Bosingwa from Chelsea rather than Anelka. Could then sell G.Johnson for about 15 is 73 mil to spend. 14 on Wolfswinkel, 15 on Eden Hazard. 20 for lukaku. Leaves about 24 mil for a left back and a left winger or 30 mil if we can get rid of jovanovic. Michel Bastos would be cracking with possibly Krancjar in front of him. Should be a couple of million leftover. Line up of Reina, Bastos, Agger, Skrtel, Bosingwa, Kranjcar, Mereiles, Gerrard, Hazard,Suarez, Wolfswinkel. Subs, Aurelio, Carragher, Kelly, Lucas, J.Cole, D.Kuyt, Ngog, Lukaku. Im sure we could forget about torres pretty quickly!!

  17. @ Dermont.I somehow agree with you. Torres will never be what he used to be-a self sufficient centre forward.Suarez was indeed the man who wud have assisted him by shaking off defence and handing him the ball on silver platter.Just like his partneship with Forlan at the world cup. If torres leaves, then we need to replace him with a striker of Torres attributes but younger and less injury prone.Perhaps Llorente!

  18. Torres would go for £50m, which is more than enough to bring Eden Hazard (who would qualify as home grown), Romelu Lukaku (also home grown), and Fabio Coentrão – effectively ending the worries we fans have had over the last few seasons: Left-back, Left-winger and back-up striker.
