Chelsea 0 Liverpool 1

Thanks to a solid team performance, excellent defending and plenty of attacking football we overcame Chelsea by a Raul Meireles goal to nil. To be honest Chelsea never really looked like scoring, especially in the second half.

The first half was solidly contested by both teams with both teams effectively cancelling the other one out, with the majority of the play being in the middle of the park. In the second half both teams seemed to be making more of an effort to try and go and actually win the game, but for the most part they ended up canceling each other out, as they had in the first half.

Indeed, just before the goal was scored I was convinced that this game was going to end in a nil-nil draw but then we broke forward and Meireles scored another well taken goal.

After that we defended our socks off right till the last minute and we fully deserved the victory. Chelsea had a few attempts on goal but still didn’t look any closer to scoring after we had taken the lead and we were able to ride the game out and take all three points.

Torres made his Chelsea debut and was mostly ineffective and he was substituted midway through the second half, much to the amusement of all Liverpool fans watching.

My only real disappointment in the game was that Suarez didn’t come on, not even for the last 15 minutes. Other than that it was a thoroughly enjoyable game of football which fair sped along.
