Nothing Professional About It!

Posted by

Over the past 10 days or so, I’ve read a lot of comments about people asking and urging fellow fans to stop ranting about Fernando Torres. I see they have a point. However, I must admit that I am a lesser man and can’t get over his betrayal. I would rant a little here. I am seeking anticipatory apologies.

He he is a smart boy, isn’t he. Blame everything on the not-so-loved past figures of Liverpool and think he would resonate with the fans. Hicks, Gillet, Roy… But you left Liverpool when none of them were here. We were looking up. In one of my previous posts, I pointed out how he didn’t care about the fans and was unsure about the time he has on his hands. His comments ratify my views on him. Easy for him to say now that the romance is dead. Hope he’d told us that before. Anfield and supporting Liverpool FC is like a love affair. Anyway, I missed him last night, did he play?? In that post, I also wanted to make my goal clear, that I wanted LFC to finish in top-4 and CFC out of it. I am glad so many more of us are echoing that sentiment and I hope that comes true come May. May be Fernando will seek a move to Barcelona in the summer and play Champions League for them. For that matter, I urge all the Fernando fans to start a petition requesting a transfer window just before the Champion League finals. Oh and I also think I know why Fernando failed last night. There was too much emotion in the Chelsea song for Torres. I mean, blue eyes and all.. What the F! He doesn’t understand that language Mr.Gay-Blue-Pansy-Singer-On-Rent. The lyrics should have included terms like targets, rate of return, weekly outlay, revenues and whatever else; would have made the song a little but more ‘professional’ and inspired your number 9.

When the line-ups were revealed, a lot of people were worried. Antoine asked us on EOTK to not question the King’s tactics. As it turns out, the man is a tactical genius. Although it never needed any turning out. He was always a genius. Speaking of which, there is a chorus from all across for KK to be given the position full-time. I would love that to happen. But let’s hold our horses. We admit that we probably have the best management a football club could hope for. John Henry, King Kenny, Steve Clarke, Sammy Lee.. they all make it feel like a dream. It’s like what your competitors would have and you’d always crave. But no, it’s real. So let’s just say that these few good men know what they are doing; certainly know more about football and running a club more than the rest of us. Let them decide whatever they decide. We’re in good hands and let’s enjoy the football guys. Leave the rest of it to them.

Some fans posted things asking the international and non-Liverpudlian fans to support teams closer to home. Being a fellow red, I am going to listen to their advice and look for a team that plays closest to my home. I live in India and it is safe to say that there is not much happening here in terms of football. So let’s look North – Middle Asia, Russia – No; East and North East – China, Japan, Korea – we don’t get your matches here and I can’t read your papers and sites either so I cannot judge; Asia Pacific – Nah, with all due respect to Perth Glory; West Asia, Africa – Nada; let’s travel North West- Italy – umm, well Ok, but could be better; Germany – nice, but not No, Spain – Barca is nice but I’d expect much more from 90,000 spectators in a stadium; France – Zilch; England, London – Nahhh (I feel sick, saw a billionaire shooting a gay porn movie with some multimillionaire footballers; has romantic songs as well!), further Northwest, Liverpool – Oh Yeah, that’s what I’m talking about! So guys, I support the team closest to my home that plays ‘football’. Stop picking on me if I don’t have the money to travel every week to watch them play.

One of the comments that stood out last night was: “Kenny, the fans certainly seem to love you” “Aye, but only probably half as much as I love them”. I Object My Lord. Speculative!! I love you more than you love me.

For the rest of the season, we only have two tricky away ties Arsenal (who haven’t been their best at Emirates) and Sunderland (going by last night’s evidence, should be a difficult one to lose). Only Manchester United come to Anfield and we can leave the playing to the mighty supporters. Heard ManU are playing in brown shorts, whatever that means.

Things are looking up people, the bloody week seems too long!

  1. Well written :)
Nice article, Torres shouldn’t have done that.
Its like a slap on the face of the Liverpool fans by the man whom they so dearly called “El Nino”
Also,Kenny Dalglish is certainly doing a decent job. As for Liverpool, all you wonder is when would the bubble burst. They are playing impressive football but all you wonder is where is the depth?
As for the Liverpool fans and Kenny Dalglish, have a read:

  2. M too from India nd totally support kaushal’s view on the supporting issue… Though we may not be travelling every week for the game, we support our beloved club as much as the fellow reds who travel with the team…. So stop picking on us for such things. YNWA.

  3. Oh Dear I suppose we should be feeling sorry for Torres now. There he was sneaking to get a “backdoor EPL medal” by the efforts of others by the end of this season before he packs his caravanserai and departs back to Spain in the summer. Oh dear I do feel sulky!!

  4. Wonder how many shirts and merchandise the club would sell if only locals were allowed to support the club. TV monies would be cut too as no-one outside Liverpool would care to watch that club. Next step then surely must be to only allow people from Liverpool to play for Liverpool. Maybe those few who claim that out-of-towners are not welcome to LFC should think about that. And the fact that the club sold patches reading ‘supporters all over the world’ in the 80ies and maybe even earlier. Yes, back when the club shop was a shack right next to the stadium.

  5. What makes us better supporters than the rest is our love for the club and our unity in the bad times. We are from all over the world and we stand together for one cause. Liverpool fc fans are one big family and king kenny is our dad. YNWA.

  6. well written well recieved, I live near Liverpool and I struggle to get to some games, but that doesn’t make my passion any less than it was when I was a Kid, used to kick a ball at the sign in the car park that said ‘no ball games’ Shankly once joined in with us, precious. What I am feeling now is pride I feel Kenny has almost instantly brought back a dignity to the club that seems to have been missing since…white suits at wembley? whenever, we are a united club once again, fans are treated with more respect (except for the numpties who misbehaved on sunday- ban them) and the players are all playing for each other and the shirt..Now to concentrate on the Wigan game; see where that takes us, and after that whatever the result, have pride in the club, the team and each other, by doing that we will really ‘never walk alone’. (wanted to sing that last bit lol.)

  7. I hate these twits from Liverpool about the fans from outside of Liverpool. I actually cannot see anything funny about that, other than that a great comment

    1. Gregory what I found out is that many of them are Toffees who start that and of course some local lads get teased by their bitter friends.

“Everton is the people’s club, most of our fans are from Merseyside” LOL, that is because no one outside Mersey know who Everton are.

  8. Bloody unbelievable but I live in Singapore and the closest favourite team for me is…. Liverpool too. Fucking hell. We’re basically neighbours. YNWA.

  9. Great article and a great read. Football is not that great in our region and that’s why I have been following Liverpool since I was 10. I couldn’t watch the games on the TV, so the only way I would catch the games was via radio. After reading ur article it made me proud to be a red from another country. I would be honored if u would follow me on twitter user @el3ees so I can do the same

  10. Essa – done mate, though I’ll have to confess that my twitter is a little bland.. the best red twitter around here is @empireofthekop. I also have a footy related list – http://twitter.com/#!/kaushal__/lfc-football

Ron – welcome to the neighborhood Ron, I’ll send you a housewarming cake :-)

Don – now worries about the singing pal, I heard the music.

Anteater – I personally think it’s not what we do for the club in monetary terms. I believe we do it for the betterment of humanity and ourselves. Everyday, I see lesser mortals supporting lesser teams and wonder how’ll they get their footballing salvation. I just want to promote ours for their sake… ;-)

Kratik – It’s not a bubble, LFC with King at helm is a Godzilla!

  11. Sorry to say, but I find it hard to support my local football club at the moment because of the lack of professionalism and corruption in and out the field (Indonesia). There’s no chemistry what so ever, unlike with Liverpool FC! Hey, It’s not coincidence that the largest LFC fans outside UK is from my country :))

  12. @Kratik Malhotra hahaha,is your own manure blog too boring that made you take a journey to this passionate fansite blog? BTW, yes it’s true that your manure has won a lot after 1994, betcha it’s not without any help from 12th player on the pitch, right? the one with the whistler.

  13. Kaushal Goyal, those few who think LFC is for people from Liverpool only would tell you that all those out of towners can’t support the club the same way they do. In order for them to understand what kind of implications it would have for the club if only them few and those many from Liverpool who actually have sense would support the club, I think it is a good point to tell them that the club wouldn’t exactly be able to compete financially if there weren’t supporters all over the place. I know truly well that supporting the club is not about money. Those few wouldn’t even understand that even a lad from somewhere else may have been told by his Liverpool supporting dad that he, the lad, should follow them too, like it happened to me almost 30 years ago.

  14. Thank you for this article. I’m from India too and it worries me that I might not be considered a true Liverpool supporter just because I don’t live in Liverpool. I’m still the one who wakes up at 3 AM sometimes to watch matches and support MY club.

Also, the worldwide supporters are the reason Liverpool come to Singapore and China and I’d like to think that we’re all part of Liverpool Football Club.

    In my heart, I believe I’m a Scouser. :)

  15. Oh c’mon RRRR.. i confessed i couldn’t get over it at the beginning of the post. Also sought apologies. ;-)
Lyandra, of course we’re all a part of LFC. Why else do you think adidas sell the shirts here? That too at a bomb of a price!

  16. I am from India myself but even if I was born on some other planet in a galaxy far away with two antennas on my head there is just one club that will have a place in my heart and that is Liverpool. Red till Death. YNWA

  17. HA! Only Liverpudlians my arse. I live in Texas, yet I stagger from the bed many Saturdays and Sundays still shaking the beer from my noggin to watch my lads play. I go to great lengths to see the matches that aren’t on tv ANYWAY I CAN. I buy things from the club thus supporting financially my football love. I joined SOS to help the only way I could until I found internet media campaigns to get even more involved in to get that bastard Hicks back over here to Texas where we can hunt him. (just kidding).
Those who believe the only real Reds live in Liverpool are beyond ignorant. They should spend some time supporting the side instead of attacking thier international compatriots. YNWA!

  18. Russian and RED through and trough! Never been to the UK yet, my dream is to see a game at Anfield! YNWA!
