After 7 goals in 2 matches, much of the talks have been on the 16 years old sensation, Raheem Sterling. 14th of February he managed to score 5 great goals in front of Kenny Dalglish, in the fifth round of the FA Youth cup against Southend United. The day after it was confirmed that Sterling was in the squad for the UEFA Europa League match against Sparta Prague. At an age of 16 years and 71 days, he could be the youngest player for Liverpool FC if he got the chance. However, that didn’t happen. Disappointing for many, wasn’t he in the game squad.

The day after, 19th of February, he was back for the U18’s again. In a League match against Stoke City he scored 2 new goals in a game they won 4-1.

Sterling joined Liverpool in February 2010 from Queens Park Rangers at the age of 15 for an initial fee of £600,000. The talented winger arrived in Kirkby with a reputation for his pace and flair, making an immediate impact when he scored on his U18 debut in a mini derby triumph against Everton.

QPR’s head of youth development Steve Gallen on Sterling: “His ability is frightening. Balance, speed, awareness. No-one I’ve ever seen compares to him. He’s a fantastic player and I really hope he does well.”

Remember he is still young and we will get much fun from him in the future.

  1. Only twice before have i seen this level of hype surround a youngster thats not played for the first team. Those players were Rooney and Messi.

Seriously though, there is way more hype surrounding our youngsters now than there was around the FA youth cup winning side. Obviously they have a lot of development to go, and the step up from reserve/u18 to first team is a big step, but the talent we have in that u18 squad is, imo, on a par with the United kids of the early 90’s.

  2. So we are all throwing our knickers at yet another teeny bopper thats gonna be the next thing again are we ?
Bye Bye Pacheco you were tha last great thing , is it ?
Theres no bigger LFC supporter than me but lets call a spade a spade , even though Fowler was sensational when he broke through , he did break through , he was too good to leave out nobody handed him anything he forced his way in.
I’ve seen this Sterling kid & his final ball is no where near first team standard , he can dribble , yes , he is pacy against under developed teeny boopers yes , but he is no where near good enough for out senior squad at this time so lets just CALM DOWN !
We have never won a league with tenny boopers , we even had to build the whole team around Owen to make use of him .
We need names like Robben & Schweinsteiger to complement soldiers like Baines & Cattermole not skinny little 16 year olds or nobodys from Europes bigger clubs reserve sides who have done nothing in England .
Carra , Gerrard & Kelly , a potential future England Captain ,all came through so lets be thankful for that & support young Wilson who is at only 19 already looking a genuine world class prospect .
Kenny is back in charge & if any man knows what we need to win a league its that man , We have the top manager in Europe leading us again & its him we should be making noise about .
