Oh Yeah

To quote the Swiss music outfit Yello “Oh Yeah.” Oh Yeah indeed.

To sum up this match we were brilliant they, ManUre, were awful but not until the final whistle had blown did I feel confident that they were not going to get back into the match, but when the whistle had blown and the final score was Liverpool 3 ManUre 1 I was able to breathe a huge sigh of relief and then rejoice in the fact that we had beaten the old enemy, the scum, the cheating rag bastards (delete where applicable).

We started off well and seemed to be on top early on in the game but ManUre nearly scored when Dimitar Berbatov had a shot that just hit the outside of the post. Then Dirk Kuyt scored the first goal after some brilliant dribbling skill by Luis Suarez, rounding several United players before passing the ball over the six yard box and Kuyt sweeping the ball into the back of the net.

Just before the first half ended Kuyt scored again after a ball was put across the box and headed back by Nani into the path of Kuyt who nodded the ball into the back of the net with a deft flick of his head. It still wasn’t enough though as ManUre have a tendency to never give up right until the end (unlike many other teams, us included) so you are always in danger when playing them.

Just before the break there was a bit of a fracas after Carragher bought Nani down with what seemed like a rather soft tackle to me initially and then went down like a sack of spuds as he usually does when another person so much as brushes past him.

Nani went off on a stretcher, so perhaps it was a bad tackle after all but in my opinion Nani deserves all he gets, the diving twat.

In the second half we did start to sit back a bit and ManUre seemed like they were getting back into the game but, luckily for us, they didn’t seem able to hit a barn door today (apart from a shot that was cleared off the line) so a clean sheet looked likely for us. Things got even better for us when Kuyt score a third goal, his first hat-trick for the club, and the first hat-trick againt ManUre since Peter Beardsley back in the eighties, and still ManUre tried to get something from the game.

Inevitably they did get one goal, just into Fergie time, and then it was squeaky bum time for us as we didn’t want to allow them back into the game when we had been the better team for the majority of the match and the time ticked down and the whistle was blown and we had done it, we had prevailed and ManUre had slumped to another defeat.

Hopefully this will put a dent in their title hopes, and show other teams that they are not all that. Andy Carroll came on for the last fifteen minutes and showed promise but sadly didn’t open his account for the club, but there is plenty of time for that first goal to come.

It was a shame that Suarez didn’t manage to get a goal today as he was our best player, but he put in a good shift, and did everything else but score, so he more than played his part in our victory today.

The way that we played today was very promising and there will definitely be a lot to look forward to next season, as well as a possible trophy before this season is out too.

  1. I agree they’re “not all that” and haven’t been for a couple of seasons but they’re still on top of the pile for the time being, but hopefully their time is almost over, crippled with debts they need to service not buy players with.

That said I think it belittles OUR performance to slag them off. Christ I do not like them one bit but I have to respect what they have done and even where they are (18 points ahead), which makes how ORDINARY we made them look today all the better. So let’s show our footballing nouse, respect the opposition (even if we don’t like them) and revel in how good we are!

FFS Pepe, ignore the fact your pal couldn’t have the foresight to look six months on or understand the ramifications of the UEFA fair play rules in respect of the likes of Chelsea and give us another season before you consider your future. You are a goalie with at least a decade of top flight football in front of you, you can afford to do this.

Overall feeling very upbeat, didn’t panic over the bad day at the office last weekend, the future is bright and the future is ALL RED!!

    1. I note what you say, but I find it difficult to respect Man Utd at all. That is the only reason why I get all het up and try not and refer to them by name. I know that is silly of me, but when it comes to them, I just can’t help it.

Go look at the replay when you can. It was a bad challenge and he was lucky to escape with a yellow.

  3. Nani was more concerned with getting Carra sent off than the injury . and yes he deserves every piece of bad luck that comes his way

  4. Nani spends that much time on the ground it’s difficult to tell if he genuinely hurt, I guess the boy who cried wolf finally got bitten!
