Transfer Madness Gone Too Far

Posted by

What is it about this year’s transfer window that is making everyone go completely and totally crazy? I mean let’s be honest, it’s exciting to link players with your club. It is. And in the past it’s always been quite entertaining to me with all the rumours that circulate throughout the Internet and twitter. But this year, it’s gone a little too far.

With the signing of Sunderland wonder boy Jordan Henderson, Kopites everywhere went crazy with love and excitement for what is to come. With names like Charlie Adam, Stuart Downing and Juan Mata, being thrown around, one can see where the excitement sprouts from. However, none of those three names, nor none of the other sixty-three linked with LFC during the month of June, have been signed. Sixty-three names is quite a lot if you ask me, almost too much to handle. There have been so many ‘almost deals’ that I’ve lost count. Heck, I think we’ve signed Charlie Adam about seventeen times. I read a joke on twitter that said, “Charlie Adam is going to be the first player to have his testimonial before he actually signs.” I love it because one, it’s hilarious, and two, it has a slight degree of truth to it. The Charlie Adam saga that began in January is a completely different saga from the one that is being presented to us today. People that claim to be ‘ITKs’ have reported 1000 different things from, an £8m bid for Adam rejected, an £8m bid + Shelvey rejected, and an £11m bid for Adam rejected. I’ve even heard that there have been multiple bids for Adam accepted. The madness has gone too far.

Some names are reasonable to be linked with, for example Charlie Adam and Stuart Downing, names that have been known targets by LFC. But then there are names like Karim Benzema, Mirko Vucinic, Loic Remy, and countless others that are just plain stupid. Now I know that they will be linked just because that is how the media is. But it’s the fact that people buy into that crap that shocks me to near death. Who in their right mind with any decent football knowledge would buy into speculation that we would be interested in a name like Didier Drogba, whom believe it or not, I saw us linked with? It’s just downright ridiculous. The worst of it is twitter though.

Transfers have gone mad with money and speculation

The source of all ridiculous ‘ITKs’ and ‘renown journos’ with the ‘top transfer news’ can be traced back to twitter. There was a twitter account called @transfermaster who claimed that Aguero was coming to Liverpool and that when it happened everyone would have to come back and apologize. Now that account turned out to be a freakish  jerk of a Manc (aren’t they all?) but that’s not the point. @Fourth_Official is another account that brings out transfer rumours and gets a lot of stick for it. Some of their stuff is true, some of it not. But people need to learn that every little thing that comes out on twitter whether it is speculation or not is NOT always true. The madness has gone too far, and it needs to end. So people, wake up! Learn that if someone says that Dirk Kuyt is going to Barcelona or David Villa is coming to Liverpool that it can’t be true! Believe nothing until it is official. Nothing.

  1. Well said scott. It’s scary hows some supporters can believe those bullshits. I admit, sometimes, it’s difficult to make a difference between rumour and fact. About aquilani, about mereiles… We don’t know, we just have to hope. But some others are so stupid that it’s impossible to believe in. Especially since june: too much rumours ! “this player said… This other said…”. Come on ! Don’t be sheeps they are in hollydays.

Last year i wrote a notice about “believing or not” in rumours:
1.chose your medias (writers and journalist about our club are the best choices)
2.never believe quotes from a player agent
3.believe what our players say (because of importance of words they can’t say bulshits in 90% of times)
4.never believe rumours when players are in hollydays.
    And now a new one:

5.the owner and King Kenny said how they are working in transfer market: all is made behind the doors. So it’s more simple: crappy medias can’t know more than the Liverpool way :)
