Pressure, Perhaps?

Liverpool vs Sunderland was a terrific opportunity to set the tone for the rest of the season, while at the same time send a strong message to all our rivals that we are indeed back and we’re not just here to make up the numbers.

Though this semi-judgement may be a tad premature for which I may get slaughtered, its just my opinion and I think this site is built for the same reason.
In the first half on saturday,we were simply magnificent..An LFC fan couldn’t have asked for much more..Though there was still a disappointment about not getting the 2nd goal, which to be honest, was doing my head in during HT..& then Larrsson scored an absloute peach and we had to share the honors.

The Problem? Pressure..The pressure to get that 2nd goal and go 2-0 up got the better of the players, in my opinion..The players knew there was always a risk of conceding a goal and had to score themselves to put us in a safe position.. For me,players like Carroll, hendo, downing and adam did not respond well to the expectations of scoring another goal.
That’s why I think Kenny shouldn’t have named his line-up full of the new players we’ve got but should’ve gone for a mix of the new and old since most of the new players aren’t that experienced..yes,initially the line up did excite me and made me feel as if Kenny is showing an intent but it kinda backfired for me in the 2nd half.

And yes,ill say it again it is a premature judgement but it does kind of give you a worry whether our team is mentally capable of handling the pressure or not,coz quite frankly, this is not even half of the challenge that we’re gonna face in the future..The pressure is bound to increase n increase.

For those who think im doubting our new signings’ attributes and playing abilities,im not..Im just doubting their mental capabilities..coz they need to be mentally fit too if they have to successfully face the pressure & expectations that we have at this huge club.

  1. I remember one day in my Sunday League team someone said the same thing to our senior player and captain after the first match. He punched the guy so hard his face the mark was still there at the end if the season. We won the league no problem.
It is called rhythm and time. Sunderland were a good side but in the first half we saw the old pass, move and attack we hadn’t seen since Bearsley, Barnes and Aldridge. It may have only been 45 minutes but it was back. More games and it should be permanent. In KK we trust. LFC are going in the right direction. Forward

  2. They ran out of gas and ideas. The ideas are down to the coaching staff. The fact that a team of professional athletes were huffing and puffing like the big bad wold suggests something is profoundly wrong with the training

    1. Drake.. You α̲̅я̩̥̊ε̲̣̣̣̥ absolutely correct.. ‎Ȋ̝̊ thought ‎Ȋ̝̊ was the only person that noticed it.. You α̲̅я̩̥̊ε̲̣̣̣̥ So on point

  3. Dirk did not deserve to be dropped.
Henderson needed to earn his place in the team.

Dropping Dirk (he can’t’ve been rested) was wrong.

  4. Pressure? These guys should be used to it by now. It’s not as if we have an squad of recent academy graduates. Pressure has been a part of these guys lives for since they decided to become pro athletes.

We just need some time. Hopefully it comes sooner than later.

  5. IMHO, Liverpool have for the past couple of years had the mentality of fighting back, of the underdog, of having to come from behind.
They have yet to develop the ruthless mentality of “leaders” in putting your foot on the opponents neck and finishing the job.
It will come with time, but the transition might be frustrating in the short term.

  6. It had nothing to do with pressure. We played a very high pressing game in the first half which led to tired legs. The pressing in the second half was nowhere close to that in the first. Clearly the players aren’t matchfit. Give them some gametime. Its just the start of the season!

  7. And it was clear the whole game died for us when suarez started to tire. Where overdependent on him for creativeness. Maybe Gerrard’s return will curb this to some extent

  8. All those named to be in team SHOULD be FULLY fit by now.
It sickens me to see manure persisting until they got their second goal just before the end. Still, was glad to see their CBs go off.

  9. I really hope Henderson does not prove a flop because Connolli singled him out as brilliant. Look at all man u wide men they are quick and can dribble – can henderson ???????????

  10. It is our first game. Nothing more to say. For me I would sit back and wait before panic hits me. KK and co deserve time to show what they want to do. I would give them time they deserve.

  11. Looks to me like Kenny is playing his new players as a signal of intent. That’s why he brought them in because he wants them more than the players we had before. He is playing them as a team to get them used to playing together. The old players will only feature if they out perform the new boys in training. Very Early days yet though…in reality we would have won the game 3-1. Carrolls Goal should have stood and Gerrard would have buried that peno…RELAX

  12. I don’t see how there’s pressure. All these players are professional athletes and picked to do that for the challenge. For example, Adam, who’s been in a team that’s been dropping and still he sacrificed personal glory and did all he could to keep his old team’s dream alive.
So yeah.. Enough said, they could handle pressure. Just give them the time. We’re moving forward. In KK we trust. YNWA
