Stoke vs Liverpool (Saturday)

Posted by

After a two week International break EPL football returns on Saturday as we travel to the Britannia Stadium to take on Stoke City.

The Britannia hasn’t been a happy hunting ground for us lately and many the football odds and pundits are predicting a draw. I am not however and I have a feeling that we will collect all three points. I can see why they would predict a draw, the Potters (who like Liverpool) are unbeaten this season and we have never won an EPL game at the Britannia. We have already broken a duck at the Emirates this season so I can not see why we can’t do the same at Stoke.

For Stoke, former red striker Peter Crouch is expected to make his debut however Rory Delap with his dangerous throw-ins is doubtful. Former red Jermaine Penant is also expected to feature for the Potters.

As far as the Reds are concerned, on the injury front Kenny Dalglish has had some good news as Charlie Adam and Glen Johnson are both expected to feature.

Martin Kelly will likely not feature due to the injury, Steven Gerrard is not fully match yet and Fabio Aurelio is also injured.

As far as Luis Suarez is concerned I have a feeling that he will score, after all he did score his first goal in the Liverpool colours against Stoke last February. That was when he came off the bench at Anfield and scored the 2nd in our 2-0 victory. Should Dirk Kuyt score, it will be his 50th Premier League goal.

Predicted starting lineup:
Pepe Reina, Glen Johnson, Jamie Carragher, Daniel Agger, Jose Enrique, Lucas Leiva, Charlie Adam, Stewart Downing,  Dirk Kuyt,  Luis Suarez, Andy Carroll

I also predict that both new boys Sebastian Coates and Craig Bellamy will start on the bench together with Jordan Henderson, Doni, John Flanagan, Jonjo Shelvey and Martin Skrtel.

Kick off is at 3PM

  1. I totally agree m8 I’ve got a strong feeling we,re going to collect all 3 points for some reason, I don’t know why, it’s just under KK,s guidance I feel we,ll be just too strong, here’s hoping my gut is right :-) ………

  2. Stoke is a physical team that relies on the high ball. To combat this, we need a strong and tall back line and fast, flexible forwards. It’s also very important to use two strong wingers. Here’s a more likely starting line-up, even though it includes a number of new players: Reina; Carragher, Coates, Agger, Enrique; Lucas, Adam, Henderson; Downing (left wing), Suarez, Bellamy (right wing). The most likely subs are Johnson, Carroll, and Kuyt.
