Oh Dear that was a c**k up!

Dear Liverpool support,

I’m ever so sorry for picking a 4-4-2 with Adam on the left (what was I thinking!), Henderson, Lucas and Downing. Downing I got right, but having a young lad and Defensive player in there, was a huge mistake.

As soon as we kicked off I knew we were done for, especially as Martin could not mark at right back, I should have stuck with Carra as the make shift.

This is what I should have done. For starters I should have gone with a 4-2-3-1, which would have Spearing (man marking play maker- Van der Fart) and Lucas (all round cover) as the two holding mids (away game against a decent attack!). Then Kuyt right, Adam center and Downing left, with little or large up front. Downing and Kuyt in close support up front and using width and Adam instructed to get in there too!

By the way for home games, I hope to use 4-1-3-2, obviously that’s a straight swap striker for Spearing, or whoever the man marker was!

Thanks for listening
Not the King for the coming week.

      1. explain how I’m kicking when down, I would love to know.Improvement comes from pointing the finger, finding out out what went wrong and fixing it (see England egg chasers this week!).

    1. If you saw my tweet at the beginning of the game, you will know my thoughts on your comments. I saw the starting lineup and knew we would be struggling in midfield!

        1. No i didn’t but im not going to turn on a team that is yet to gel fully and were simply outclassed 9 men or not. I pay moneyto go and support my team and i most certainly won’t be turning on a man who is teh best thing to happen to our club since 25.05.2005

          1. How is giving my view on the the tactics used and what I would do, turning on and getting at Kenny?

At no point have I said I don’t like him, think he is an idiot or anything along those lines!

  1. I remember the first post i read in EOTK. It was a joke letter from Reina to Kenny saying he wants to play more.

This letter, on the other hand, isn’t much different from any immature comments in any soccer forums all over the world wide web. There wasn’t any humour nor sarcasm. All i see is an immature rant. At least go in depth with your reason why you think Kenny got it wrong.

You are obviously a Football Manager game player.I wish you luck in your game, and hopefully players respond prep talks as well as they do in real life.

    1. I could have just done a normal post stating my view on lineup and formation. But I fancied trying it a different way. Sorry your narrow mind could not see that and just take in what a fellow supporter would have liked to do as manager1

      1. Yes, but a normal post would contain more insights on why you would prefer that formation with evidence pertaining from information during recent training or recent performances.

For example, you said Kenny should have moved Carra to the right instead. What makes you think Carra would be able to handle Bale better? Base on speed or experience? Perhaps Kenny’s decision was based on Sktrel’s performance against Stoke and the fact that he has been training well at right back for awhile. Or that Carra was more important in organizing the defence from the centre.

Your views are similar to so many others, i know. Most of us are thinking the same. I don’t know about the other readers, but some of us come EOTK to get information more than those swimming in our minds.

If it is as you say that all you want it just post your views and not to discuss anything else nor promote a healthy debate, than i agree that it is what your post feels like. I was commenting on how i felt your post and i am sorry if you regard that as abuse.

I was just stating an ‘advice’ on how you should elaborate more on your views to justify them and in by no means am i qualified to give you any advice, but calling me narrow-minded is jumping the gun a little, no?

        1. Maybe but all I ask is, take it as you see it, it was meant as a brief take on how I saw it. The formations I put forward have been my view for many months now, and as soon as I saw the lineup and formation I DID think this will be tough game.

I didn’t have time to go into detail, that’s why I used the letter format. When I do go into detail it’s when I make notes during the game or when I have time to sit down and give a detailed review of my thoughts over a few games.

I very rarely post after good games, because that is not what I’m about. In the past plenty of people have agreed with MY IDEAS! But for some reason everyone who commented on this post just questioned my support (watched Kenny play at Anfield early 80’s) and basically being totally out order (cock, prick and idiot). Just say you don’t agree or need clarity (like you Bryan) and I will gladly get into a debate (if I have time).

It does seem you got it though as you stated in your last comment about experience and training sessions, that’s why the title says cock up, experiment gone wrong!

  2. For you who don’t know, I write here only when things go wrong and my comments are my views on what I would have done. In no way am I having a pop or insisting that Kenny should do this and that!

I must add though that the during the Hodgson era I just didn’t bother.

  3. anyway, to add for discussion, i too am bewildered at the absence of Kuyt. With a makeshift right back in the game, a hardworking Kuyt would be a good idea.

And at the point where we had 10 men, why was Carroll on the right and Suarez as a lone striker. No offence to Carroll, but the only thing he can do (or suppose to) is getting to the end of crosses and holding up play. Furthermore, base on Suarez’s amazing feats last season, he worked wonders cutting in from the flanks and his work rate at dropping back was only to be rivaled by Kuyt. I wonder if it was Kenny’s strict orders for him to stay on top hoping for some magic to happen.

    1. Totally for Kuyt see my 4-2-3-1.

As for Carroll, they said during the game he needs a run of games to get fit, it’s just in his build and the way he plays. I’m tall myself and always needed a few games to get my game going.

I have in the past suggested a front 3 of Carroll, Suarez and Kuyt,4-1-2-3, with the idea Suarez was on the left and Kuyt right of Carroll. If Carroll is a little deep he can flick on and S and K could run onto it from width. If C got it at his feet deep, he can knock it through the channels for S and K or out towards the corner for S and K and which ever he chose he should be following on in to box, as would the 2 mids. When coming from defense S and K would be deep of course and an outlet for the defense, who should be on the half way line with one dropped back 10yards, as we attack the box.

Going to stop now, as the last paragraph and another formation is something I’m building too for my next post. I’m hoping Kenny tries something similar at some point.

      1. About Carroll, i’m not saying he shouldn’t play. I was at least agreeing with you on some points. What i meant was, that at the time where Liverpool were down to 10 men, i thought he would be better up as a lone striker and Suarez at the wings.

I too can’t wait for Carroll to click with the team. I hope he and the other new boys will have the Liverpool spirit in them. I didn’t see that in the match against Spurs. Only Lucas, Suarez, Bellamy and perhaps Enrique didn’t give up throughout the match.

Anyway, i look forward to your next post.
