New season, New beginning

Liverpool kick off the 2012/13 season away to West Bromwich Albion, after the disappointing eight place finish last season many fans are really looking forward to this “New Beginning”.

The summer has brought many changes to the club, the beloved legend Kenny Dalglish was let go by the owners over last season’s performance. Most Liverpool fans (Including myself) were outraged and didn’t believe that Kenny wasn’t given enough time to turn things around. Brendan Rodgers was appointed as Kenny’s replacement, all the supporters have now rallied behind him as he faces a difficult task on returning Liverpool to the top four on a limited budget.

The Liverpool owners have made it clear that the club will live within it’s own financial means and balance the books. Without Champions League football, L.F.C. is challenged on the kind of players that can be attracted.  Liverpool haven’t spent much this summer, the only signings confirmed so far are Fabio Borini, Joe Allen & Oussama Assaidi. These three players brought in are young and show a lot of promise.  Fabio Aurelio has been released by the club and Dirk Kuyt has been sold to Fenerbache.  Craig Bellamy and Maxi Rodriguez both returned to their respective home clubs.

I am optimistic that Liverpool will have a better season than last year and realistically we should reach fifth place, reaching the top four however will be a tall order as Manchester United, Manchester City, Chelsea and Arsenal have all out-spent us this summer.

  1. Lets sign Theo Walcot to weaken Arsenal further, I reckon Arsenal will also struggle to retain top 4 after losing Van Persie and their new boys also need time to adapt.
