A disaster of an opening day saw Brendan Rodger’s Liverpool side slump to a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Steve Clarke’s West Bromwich Albion team at the Hawthorns. Need a 20 goal a season striker to remotely challenge for the top 6. Suarez needs to be free to create and not have the pressure to be the out and out scorer. Chin up lads.. Come on Fenway get us the striker we need! YNWA
I think Dempsey would be an option to look at. Also, I’d like to see Carroll get a run of games.
Drop Downing, permanentely, drop Gerrard, he was our worst player yesterday, hes got too much influence for a 5 years past his prime player, weed out the spineless chokers.
No question StevieG had a bad game, but to drop him after one game would be a little much. And some of the posts I’ve read on other sites recomending Rogers get the sack, were going to be relegated, are way over the top considering its our first EPL game of the season. Am I happy with the way the team played, no, not really. Are there things to build on, Damn Right There Are…Are there things that look like the staff didnt watch any of our games from last season, yes.
My biggest concerns are:
1) How many shots are we going to send into the stands before we park a couple of players on the bench, and try something/someone new?
2) Three corners is all we generated with all the shots we took? See #1 same issue.
3) When we play a big physical team, why is Andy Carroll not starting? Some of our match-ups, we looked like we were giving up 8-10 inches, and 20-30 pounds.
4) Lets get our new winger Assaidi up to speed quickly. I’m concerned Downing is not the answer.
5) Why can Joe Cole play an entire season in France without injury, yet he cant play more than a 10 minute stretch for us without turning to glass.
The next run of 5 or 6 games is going to tell us alot. I hope I end up with a smile on my face come September. I agree its a work in progress, but we need to see DEFINATIVE improvement with each game…YNWA…
Karl said whats on my mind Downing did the same mistakes from last season really poor. We looked better on our left so west Brom took the game on our right we need a change.
