With the Reds likely to target a striker in January, I recently wrote an article assessing the reported targets, one of whom was Klaas-Jan Huntelaar.
However, the move seems to be unlikely after the Schalke and Holland star refuted the rumours, expressing his intention to remain at Schalke until the end of the season at the least, with his contract expiring in the summer.
Huntelaar said “I am continuing at Schalke until the end of the season in any case”, when asked about his future by German media.
He admitted to being aware of Liverpool’s interest, among other sides, adding “I heard lots of things”, but claimed “I have had no contact with any club.”
With Schalke loathe to let him go at the end of the season for free, this may not be the final word in the chase for Huntelaar, but assuming the Dutchman is true to his word, who would those of you who would have liked to have seen Huntelaar arrive at Anfield bring in instead?
