The Santa Dash takes place on Sunday 2nd December in Liverpool City Centre and gives runners the perfect opportunity to get into the Christmas spirit and join thousands of other Santas in this fun 5k event, whilst raising funds for this great local cause! The 23 Foundation are asking runners to raise a minimum of £50 and for a discounted registration fee of just £10, you will receive sponsorship forms and a free Santa suit from Run Liverpool!

If you want to start the New Year with more of a challenge, the 23 Foundation also have a number of guaranteed spaces in the Liverpool Half Marathon, taking place on Sunday 17th March 2013. This may seem like a long way off, but wouldn’t it be nice to guiltlessly indulge during the festive season and know that come New Year you can begin training to work off those Christmas calories AND do something amazing to help charity?

So why not challenge yourself and join the ‘Team of Carraghers’ to run 13.1 miles in the Liverpool Half Marathon 2013. For a small registration fee of just £20, runners are being asked to raise a minimum of £250 – but don’t worry, the 23 Foundation team will be on hand to help you reach this target and will provide you with a fundraising pack, complete with tips and ideas on raising money, sponsorship forms and a 23 Foundation running vest, provided by OBAS.

The 23 Foundation was set up by Liverpool FC’s number 23 Jamie Carragher with the Community Foundation for Merseyside in 2009. The aim of the charity is to give local young people in Merseyside a chance to make a difference in society by providing them with an outlet through football and sport. Since it began, 23 Foundation has given out over £90,000 in grants to local charities, community groups and projects operating in Merseyside.

One of these is Merseyside YouthBank, which aims to redress the negative image of young people in society through inviting them to apply for funding that will support their innovative and community enhancing projects. In this way, YouthBank is able to actively involve young people in potentially providing solutions to some of the problems they feel their communities face.
