January Transfer Window

Posted by

The January Transfer Window is just around the corner, and with Liverpool clearly needing to strengthen their side, we take a look at who would be great signings for the Reds, with these being some of the biggest names doing the rounds at the moment

Demba Ba
Newcastle United FC – Senegal – ST – 27
Estimated Value: £9 million
The Newcastle man has proven his goalscoring ability and with a release clause of around £9million it is hard to see why no one has snapped him up yet. However might be hard to prize away from a team where he can currently link up with Senegal team-mate Papiss Cisse.

Fernando Llorente
Athletic Bilbao – Spain – ST – 27
Estimated Value: £28 million
The Spaniard has a large release clause of about £28 million, but on his day is one of the best strikers around. Scoring 29 goals last season in all competitions, and was also the top Spanish scorer last season in the Primera Division. Currently looking for new team as he has been frozen out at Bilbao for not signing a new contract.

Shane Long
West Bromwich Albion FC – Republic of Ireland – ST – 25
Estimated Fee: £13 million
Irishman Long may not be everyone’s first choice, but he has started this season well, scoring 7 goals in 15 appearances, only 1 less goal than the whole of last season. Might be more prolific if he did join Liverpool with Suarez and Sterling playing around him, as he is an out and out striker, so may deliver if given more opportunity.

Daniel Sturridge
Chelsea FC – England – ST – 23
Esimated Fee: £14 million
Sturridge was linked with a move to Liverpool a few seasons ago as part of the Fernando Torres deal, however nothing came of it. Strong, young and has an eye for goal, which is all the qualities he needs to become a top class striker, exactly what Liverpool need. However he is nowhere near as prolific as other strikers we have been linked to, such as Ba or Llorente, and FSG might have to splash the cash to get a word class striker in this January.

Tom Ince
Blackpool FC – England – LW – 20
Estimated Fee: £6 million
The 20 year old son of Paul Ince only left Liverpool in 2011, however has really proven himself this season at Blackpool, scoring 13 goals in 20 games, and despite not being an out and out striker, a goalscorer is what Liverpool need. He will already know the players, the set up etc, so would fit in comfortably and easily, and with Rodgers wanting to promote youth talent, he could thrive at Liverpool.

So who would you like to see Liverpool sign in the next transfer window? A striker is a must, but who do you think would be most suitable?

I’m sure we all think we should be Liverpool manager, however we are not all lucky enough to be the Liverpool manager however, we might have to settle for second best, in which case I decided to sell my xbox, and purchase Football Manager right away, and take Liverpool straight to the top of the table!

  1. I think Ba and Sturridge are our best bets. Yes Llorente is a world class goal scorer, but we also need depth. Ba and Sturridge together will cost less than Llorente; and Ba and Sturridge will be able to plug directly into the system and not have to worry about adjusting to a new league. Either way FSG has to open up the pocket book and bring some people in, Ba and Sturridge are going to be our best bets. YNWA!

  2. I honestly think it is a must for Liverpool fc to sign Edison Cavani or Llronte, both being classy finishers. On the other hand a wide player such as Loic Remy or Ince would be a brilliant addition, with these type of players combined with what we already have in the side, shouts out ‘ Champions League’ loud and clear

  3. I would like to see Liverpool signing either of Llorente, Ba or Long but not too keen on either of Sturridge or Ince. Llorente and Ba would be great additions and alongside them Liverpool would need to sign an inside forward but i don’t like the look of Sturridge or Ince but if we can get Walcott or Mertens then i would be delighted. Long might not be a big name signing but he would definitely be handful one as he alongside Suarez could be a nightmare for defenders as neither of them gives defender a breather and Long is not a bad player at all.

  4. Long, ince and sturridge, all three not a bad idea they’re quite cheap and lethal,if only sturridge wil drop that 80k a week idea off his head

  5. I think we would get a top class striker as I strongly believe in.BR and what he is doing at LFC…YNWA

  6. We have to be realistic, Llorente is out. Sturridge and Ba are more realistic. But that’s unsure. I would say someone like Bent at villa. Not my ideal choice but someone whose available now,and could be cheap, as he’s out of favour. Him and Sturridge are the two I see as being most realistic. Even Ince as a outside chance.

  7. I don’t see why everyone’s raving about Daniel Sturridge , he wants 80k a week and isn’t exactly a clinical finisher. He has a terrible attitude about playing out wide , which is where he will play for us. Shane long for me is a better option but I highly doubt WBA will sell him.

  8. To my own perspective,i dont think daniel sturidge wat d carlibar of player we re ratin him 2 b,cos is not ideal 2 play sturidge as a standin striker,it ll b lik liverp goin bak 2 square 1,playng him as winger he is very selfish.dat kind of player peering wit luis catastrophy.lfc shld rader go 4 ba & wacot, ince

  9. ince would only cost about 1.5 million as liverpool have a buy back clause dont want sturridge bad attitude i belive we already have are targets and none of them mentioned on here at the most two signings one striker one wide man /striker i belive the stirker will come from porto and wide man from spain

  10. Tom Ince leaves for £250,000 we buy him back for 6 mill, fantastic peice of buiness. Llorente all day long and Walcott if possible. Both would cost nowt in the summer so hope the board can drive a decent bargain for both of these guys. But no dout we will end up with some mediocre player to go with our mediocre team.

  11. I would prefer Ba,Shane and Ince or( Ba and Ince) would be ideal for us but we risk having Ba in january as its the time of African Nations cup competition so we might not get enough from him nd risk of picking up injury in the tournament cannot be overlooked..My choice would be Ince+Shane and we would create fear in the minds of our opposition
