Liverpool have today confirmed the departure of on-loan Real Madrid midfielder Nuri Sahin after reaching an agreement with his Spanish club to end his stay prematurely. The Turkey international, who has not made an appearance since the 1-0 win over Udinese, has had his move terminated, swiftly securing a six month loan with his former club Borussia Dortmund.

The midfielder was signed by Liverpool after failing to break into the first team under Jose Mourinho following his £9million move from Germany, but after a promising start the 24 year old lost his place in the first team as he seemed to struggle with the physicality of the Premier League.

His last domestic appearance came in the 1-1 draw with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, while a chance to impress against Udinese was cruelly taken away when Sahin suffered a broken nose early on in the game.

In total Sahin made 13 appearances for Liverpool, scoring 3 goals, including a brace in the 2-1 Capital One Cup victory at West Brom.

Liverpool announced in a statement on their website that “an agreement has been reached with Real Madrid allowing midfielder Nuri Sahin’s loan deal to end, so he can join another club with immediate effect.

“Sahin arrived at Anfield for a season-long stay in August 2012, but will now spend the rest of the campaign with Borussia Dortmund, the side with whom he won the 2011 German championship.”

Real Madrid also confirmed the move on their official website, while Dortmund announced the return of their Academy product on loan until the end of the season during a press conference.

  1. Anouther shocking bit of buisness from Liverpool. We paid 4.4 million to loan this flop on top of his huge contract. All though we have off loaded his wages i cant help feel frustrated.
When will Liverpool stop doing this?

Cole, Agualani, Carrol, Poulson, Keane now Sahin to name a few.

We can not continue to hemirige money like we are.

No wonder we cant compete with the big guns on the transfer front anymore.

  2. SHeybourne, what are you talking about? Every club have duds they buy as as product of trial and error. This is normal. LFC are improved upon this time last year. Stop regurgitating everything you read in the press!! Amateur, knee-jerk stuff! For example, Liverpool has time and time again been described as being too reliant on Suarez yet they fail to mention that the 19 goals we’ve scored since the start of December have come from 11 different players—the most in the league!!! I know!!! Watch the facts, not the BS!

    1. I was talking about our transfer policy.

I am fully behind BR and i do think we are going in the right direction.

You can not deny our tranfer policy compared to other EPL teams is shocking and needs addressing!

  3. i agree….who ever is making the decisions has been wrong way to often in the past few years!,with all the talent coming into the epl and we keep signing duds!FFS
