Reds Confirm Sahin Exit

Liverpool have today confirmed the departure of on-loan Real Madrid midfielder Nuri Sahin after reaching an agreement with his Spanish club to end his stay prematurely. The Turkey international, who has not made an appearance since the 1-0 win over Udinese, has had his move terminated, swiftly securing a six month loan with his former club Borussia Dortmund.

The midfielder was signed by Liverpool after failing to break into the first team under Jose Mourinho following his £9million move from Germany, but after a promising start the 24 year old lost his place in the first team as he seemed to struggle with the physicality of the Premier League.

His last domestic appearance came in the 1-1 draw with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, while a chance to impress against Udinese was cruelly taken away when Sahin suffered a broken nose early on in the game.

In total Sahin made 13 appearances for Liverpool, scoring 3 goals, including a brace in the 2-1 Capital One Cup victory at West Brom.

Liverpool announced in a statement on their website that “an agreement has been reached with Real Madrid allowing midfielder Nuri Sahin’s loan deal to end, so he can join another club with immediate effect.

“Sahin arrived at Anfield for a season-long stay in August 2012, but will now spend the rest of the campaign with Borussia Dortmund, the side with whom he won the 2011 German championship.”

Real Madrid also confirmed the move on their official website, while Dortmund announced the return of their Academy product on loan until the end of the season during a press conference.
