Reading v Liverpool
English Premier League
Madejski Stadium, Reading
Saturday 13th April, 2013
West Ham frustrated Liverpool last Sunday with a 0-0 stalemate at Anfield. The Reds are looking to get back into winning ways when they travel to the Madejski Stadium and take on Reading.
Liverpool F.C. Preview
Champions League qualifying is now a distant memory for Liverpool so the focus now switches to at least capture a Europa League berth. Reading are sitting at the bottom of the table, their only hope of surviving the drop will have to be a victory against the Reds. Unibet has more insight into the odds of this game and what is at stake.
Liverpool Injuries and Suspensions
Brendan Rodgers does have some injury worries as both Joe Allen and Fabio Borini are out for the rest of the season. Martin Kelly is making a good recovery however he will not be ready for this Saturday. Raheem Sterling will not feature after suffering a thigh injury. Stewart Downing is expected to return for the Reading game after he limped off the field against the Hammers. There are no suspensions for Liverpool.
Head to Head: Reading and Liverpool have only played against each other nine times. Of these, Liverpool won six of the games, Reading won two, while one finished in a draw. In the Anfield game last October, Raheem Sterling handed the Reds all three points when his strike hit the back of the net.
Liverpool’s form has been inconsistent to say the least. Prior to the goalless draw against West Ham, The Reds did beat Aston Villa however before that they lost to Southampton. Liverpool was however victorious against both Totenham Hotspur and Wigan.
Reading on the other hand have lost their last seven games.
Projected Line ups
Former Red Danny Guthrie could start for Reading, I believe that Brendan Rodgers will select the same team that drew against West Ham.
Reading: Adam Federici, Chris Gunter, Sean Morrison, Adrian Mariappa, Stephen Kelly, Mikele Leigertwood, Jem Karacan, Jobi McAnuff, Hal Robson-Kanu, Danny Guthrie, Adam Le Fondre.
Liverpool: Pepe Reina, Glen Johnson, Jamie Carragher, Daniel Agger, Jose Enrique, Lucas Leiva, Steven Gerrard, Jordan Henderson, Stewart Downing, Philippe Coutinho, Luis Suarez.
Reading v Liverpool Prediction
Luis Suarez was left frustrated against the Hammers however he should find his mojo back and be able to net against The Royals. Fellow South American Phillipe Coutinho has been awarded with the Liverpool FC player of the month so expect him to shine too.
Reading 0 v Liverpool 2 (Suarez, Coutinho)
The bookies are predicting a Liverpool victory at odds 1.50.
