An optimistic look at Liverpool

People who know me will know I am a worrier when it come to Liverpool. This is going to be difficult but I want to get excited! If someone said to me Suarez and Reina could leave Liverpool I would of started to panic however let’s look on the bright side. Quality goal keepers are hard to come by. Unfortunately Pepe’s form hasn’t been the best over the last two seasons but the amount of loyalty he has shown to the club is already impressive by modern day standards. I don’t believe Liverpool fans will be angry at him if he leaves and many Kopites seem happy with his replacement.

Suarez on the other hand, he has skills that I haven’t seen in a striker at Liverpool before. I am not saying he is the best we have ever had, I am mealy saying he is pure entertainment. Looking on the bright side though, it will get rid of a lot of stick that us Kopites have to put up with regarding biting/racism/diving… etc.

We have Daniel Sturridge who I am enjoying more and more. A player who has everything, if we could get him consistent and injury free we may have a player of pure class on our hands. Borini looked convincing when he came back from injury scoring against Newcastle and playing well for Italy u21. Who knows how this guy will turn out, but a phrase I use to defend most Liverpool players who are getting stick, “he is younge!”

Iago Aspas, the new audition to the squad also looks promising and Rodgers also said that we have new signings in the pipe line, one attacking and a defender. This issue could be resolved, that is if Suarez goes of course.

Shelvy going to Swansea disappoints me a bit because I believe he has a lot of potential, but we did just sign Luis Alberto so we have replaced the lad before we sold him.

Now Jamie Carragher can’t be replaced, it never will be the same without him. His personality and loyalty is immense but as for his football I believe that Kolo Toure will help greatly from conceding at the back and hopefully be a great audition to the squad.

With the season on its head because of the lack of long term managers in the Premier League now and with no Europa action for the Reds it is hard to predict what position we will finish. The fans will be gunning for Champions League.

When I sit there in August looking down on that pitch seeing the old (Charlie Adam) warning up for Stoke and the new (Iago Aspas) running round I will get the same feeling as I always do… Nerves.. Not because I am worried about the Reds but because I am excited that I am about to witness the start of the season when Liverpool shake the Premier League!

Come on Reds!
