Liverpool FC – If things were different would Rooney be a possible target this summer?

With the continued speculation over Wayne Rooney’s future as a Manchester United player, I’ve taken an in depth look at how Rooney could have fitted into Liverpool.

Although we know it’s near impossible that this transfer would ever come off for the many different reasons that we all know about, especially given Moyes’s history wouldn’t want to be stained right at the start by selling to us. Doing this would be a total change to the way Ferguson ran his club (Gabriel Heinze saga of 2007).

Possible formation?

I’d say an interchangeable 4-3-3 with Sturridge, Rooney and Suarez (If he doesn’t go, if this summer transfer comes to the surface then possibly a player like Romelu Lukaku)

But this is what I would like too see, without Rooney the formation I’d like to see is totally different for us but with him I couldn’t see how we could drop either Sturridge or Suarez as this would give us plenty of goals because all three front men can poach, score unbelievable goals and help the others out.
Sturridge created 3 and scored 12 in his first 15 games at Liverpool so if he could keep up that kind of form in 2013/14 he would come out with just over 26 goals and 8 assists which isn’t bad for a striker, he also has previous playing in the RW role at Chelsea although it wasnt his preffered position this could change as they would allow each other to get into the space throughout the game and the goals would come.

Suarez created 11 and scored 30 in the 2012/13 season and also plays in the LW position for Uruguay in which position he has became the all time leading goalscorer for his country also do not forget that Suarez missed the last 4 games through suspension so these figures could have increased.

Wayne on the other hand only scored 12 goals in the 2012/13 season as he was pushed out by Robin Van Persie who incidently just pipped Luis to the Golden Boot last season but did assist 10. This isn’t too bad as he was mostly playing an Attacking Midfielder role or even sometimes a Winger although he still scored a few, he has shown that his attacking proesque hasn’t left him either scoring 4 goals in 5 games for England when he has been played in his preferred central attacking role.

I know he still wouldn’t always be in a central position at the club but Wayne is a different centre forward as he likes to put a shift in so this role could suit him because he would be allowed to put his shift in right around the pitch and there would still be an attacking threat if he was in the defensive side of the pitch although Rooney’s running and willingness to help in all ends of the pitch makes him the special player he is (I know he is a Manchester United player but it hurts me to say that he is a very good player and he would instantly help us in our mission to again become a force in the Premier League)

If he wasn’t part of our two hated teams history and instead came played for Fulham and Chelsea would you have wanted us to try his hand at attempt to bring him into the club?

I would now even if he has had the history he has, Owen did a job even if it was only a small job for Manchester United when he unfortunately crossed the pond.

Right back to the point, Rooneys willingness to be involved in all play makes him an valuable asset too any team, a example of this is the goal against Arsenal in 2010 where he was so eager to be involved he sprinted from his own box defending to Arsenal’s 18 yard box with Nani which isn’t easy to do and then scored with a great finish.

I think this could add an extra spark and possible final spark that we need as Coutinho would be allowed more space with that forward line being kept at bay to then make the assists he makes us Liverpool fans dream of.

This is my 1st blog, was just a little thought, Apologies if it was crap. A
