Look who Liverpool are being linked with (again)

So as the news about Henrikh Mkhitaryan passes us, someone in the Liverpool back room staff is definitely working hard to find a replacement. Not for the first time, Liverpool are being linked with Pedro, Sánchez and Erikson. For starters, if any of these players joined Liverpool, I would be thrilled. To make things more interesting, we know Liverpool actually have around £20 million to spend – a good price for any of these players.

With Neymar arriving at Camp Nou, it is clear both Sánchez and Pedro will be available to leave the Spanish giants; and, with Liverpool missing out on their number one target Mkhitaryan, to Dortmund where Erikson was supposed to go, it leaves space for Liverpool to swoop in for the Danish playmaker. So not bad, three quality players are now being linked to Anfield.

Chilean forward Alexis Sánchez & Spanish international Pedro Eliezer Rodríguez Ledesma are both available for the right price. Sánchez signed for Barcelona in July 2011 for a fee of €26 million from Italian club Udinese.

Sánchez failed to impress coaches and crowd since arriving at the Camp Nou and Rodgers may feel he can persuade the speedy Chilean to join him at Anfield.

Alexis may be the number one target as he operates alongside a main striker and can interchange. He is the perfect type of creative player to fit Brendan Rodgers system.

However, we have also been linked to lesser quality players. Some are unknown, but some are well know for not performing. First, Jorginho. Looking at a few videos of his play, in my opinion he shows little potential, and wouldn’t adapt well at all to the Premier League. But I’m no scout. Most will think, “Italian-Brazilian with ‘inho’ at the end of his name? Sign him!”. Maybe rogers is looking to bring in 2 or 3 unknown players and built them up, instead of one more known target. Or perhaps the idea may be to bring in an attacker and a defender of decent quality. Who knows…

What we do know though is that Liverpool are taking the right steps forward. We will be a step up come the start of next season. Hopefully, it will be enough to step up into the top 4.

Who do you predict will be joining Liverpool?
