Andre Wisdom was born in Leeds however it was Bradford City who spotted the young lad and invited him to join their youth program. Soon after many big clubs were interested in him and eventually Liverpool signed him in January 2008 when he was only fourteen years old.

Wisdom played well as a an Under 16 and he also did with the Under 18 squad. He was an important part of the youth team that reached the FA Youth Cup final of 2009 . During this period he proved to be very versatile and he was equally comfortable as both a fullback and a central defender.

He was eventually called up for the England Under 16 squad and later was part of the England Under 17 that won the European championships in May 2010.

Such was the rise of Wisdom at the international level that Roy Hodgson saw the potential in this young lad. Wisdom was rewarded with the 47 shirt in the senior Liverpool team for the 2010-11 season. On January 9 2013 Andre was given a long term contract and then last season he played 12 games for the first team.

Rodgers clearly likes the young lad and he likes the way Wisdom plays. Wisdom is a right-footed player, he has the pace and enjoys going into the opponent’s half. As much as he loves to go forward he does his defensive duty well.

Andre was recently named captain of the England under 21 squad by Gareth Southgate, this will definitely allow Wisdom a chance to improve on his leadership. Playing such an important role in the England under 21 squad gives Rodgers a reason to include Wisdom in Liverpool’s first team selection. He can easily slot right in a central defence role or at right back. It gives Rodgers an extra option to utilise Wisdom whenever there is a need.

Wisdom may lack experience at the senior level at the moment but given time he could develop into a world class defender and could also be Liverpool’s future captain.
