This season arguably there has been 4 outstanding performers for Liverpool. Obviously Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge, but also Steven Gerrard and most unpredictably, Jordan Henderson. From the start of last season until now, he’s improvement technically but also tactically has been outstanding to see, and it means for Liverpool that another centre midfielder is not needed. He and Steven Gerrard have worked very well together this season, and those two have guided the likes of Coutinho and also Sterling.
The reason for he’s dramatic improvement is down to two things, the manager Brendan Rodgers giving him the belief that he can make it as a top player, but also the attitude he has shown. This has been proven for both club and country. For club, he has played wherever he has needed to, whether it will be in the centre, or either wing. I remember going to Anfield when they played Norwich last season, and he played left midfield and scored a good goal too that day. Ever since then, he has improved week by week and Liverpool are benefiting from this now. Also the big belief came for him when he was in the England squad for Euro 2012. He was originally on the stand by list but due to injuries, he was on the plane. That season under Dalglish, he was poor and many fans were urging the club to sell him, I bet they would say that now! Playing for England then gave him the belief to become a better player, and especially this season the Premier League has seen this. The attitude shown by him means that he has all the credentials to be a Liverpool player for years to come, and he will continue to improve season by season. After Gerrard retires, don’t be surprised to see Henderson become Liverpool captain.
