Remy Fails Liverpool Medical

Reports have surfaced in the last few hours that Loic Remy’s proposed £8.5m move to Liverpool from QPR has collapsed. Early impressions are that this was due to the medical.

Following some digging, it seems likely that the 27 year-old’s issue stems from a Cardiac condition that was discovered back in 2010 when the Striker moved from Nice to Olympique Marseille. According to French site Mercato Eurosport that move almost fell through due to this condition. The report goes on to say that Remy considered quitting top-flight football. Only for some further tests and a year of medication to get his career back on track.

Personally, I think the club may have made a wrong decision. He was fit enough to go to the World Cup so I believe he should be fit enough to play. Still it’s Liverpool’s call and they decided it’s a big fat “NO”. So, as the old saying goes, the king is dead, long live the king. Perhaps Brendan Rodgers will rekindle his interest in Swansea’s Ivory Coast international Wilfried Bony. The 25 year-old striker is probably a better bet and, from what we saw of Bony last season, I think he’d be a more than capable replacement for the Frenchman. Can a deal be agreed? We’ll have to wait and see. At £19m he’s far pricier than Remy. Although at £8.5m for a player of Remy’s quality? It’s no surprise this has come up: If it sounds too good to be true, then it probably is.
