Luis Suarez’s Ballon D’or omission stuns former manager…

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has blasted Luis Suarez’s Ballon D’or omission, claiming that the now Barcelona striker fully deserved to be among the candidates.

As explained by the Daily Express, even though the controversial Uruguayan is recognised by many observers as among the top five players on the globe, the £75m man has not made the 23 nominees for the Ballon D’or.

Speaking about the decision, Rodgers said: “He should have been on that list. Did the bite stop him? You would think so. I don’t believe it is fair. It’s the Golden Ball, not the Golden Ball and Mouth.”

Suarez scored 31 goals in 33 Premier League games last season, taking his tally to 69 in 110 during his three and a half year spell with Liverpool, which came to an end this summer.

However, he was sent home from the World Cup in disgrace in June, after biting Italian defender  Giorgio Chiellini, the third such incident of his career. Suarez has only just returned from his four month man, making his Barcelona debut last month.
