Liverpool goals: Brendan Rodgers promises his team will start producing…

Brendan Rodgers has promised that his misfiring Liverpool players will find their scoring boots again soon, despite only netting on 13 occasions during their first ten Premier League games.

The Anfield boss admitted after Saturday’s defeat away at Newcastle that his team must improve their proficiency in front of goal, having drawn a blank for the second successive weekend.

Having previously been held to a 0-0 stalemate by Hull City at Anfield, the Reds were overturned by the Magpies, who took all three points at St. James’ Park thanks to Ayoze Perez’s second-half strike.

Failure to strike in the north east was a primary frustration for Rodgers, whose team had racked up a total of 101 by the conclusion of 2013-14, and the Northern Irishman intends to put things right as soon as possible.

“It’s certainly something we need to be better in,” the manager told Liverpoolfc.com. “For the team to have confidence, it’s important that you look like you can score a goal.

“We didn’t look as if we could threaten so much. I’m a creative and attacking coach, and we have seen over my time here how we build teams to score goals in order to win games.

“But at the moment it’s not quite happening for us. We just need to analyse the game and work harder to make it work.”
