Gonzalo Higuain transfer: Liverpool hopeful of signing Argentine star in January…

Liverpool have received a major January transfer boost after Napoli announced that they were prepared to sell star forward Gonzalo Higuain in the next window.

Reports in Spain explain that the prolific Argentine, who has been linked strongly with the Reds in recent months, is not expected to stay at the club for much long, with Rafael Benitez’s side already considering possible replacements for him upfront.

Higuain was in fine form for Napoli last season following a move from Real Madrid, and although he has been slow to get going this season, he now looks like reaching his best form again with an impressive run of five goals in his last three appearances.

There’s no doubt the 26-year-old could prove a top signing for Liverpool as they continue to search for replacements for Luis Suarez, with Mario Balotelli not reaching anywhere near his top form since moving to Anfield from AC Milan this summer.

It could even be that Balotelli will be Napoli’s replacement for Higuain upfront, with recent reports suggesting that the troubled Italian could be on their transfer radar for the upcoming January transfer window.

Balotelli has scored just two goals for Liverpool so far this season, and is yet to find the net in the Premier League. In contrast, World Cup finalist Higuain has now scored eight times in all competitions this season.
