Early Divock Origi Liverpool move could happen – but only if Reds pay Lille OSC £5m fee

A further thigh injury suffered by Daniel Sturridge has seen talk of a January Divock Origi Liverpool move gain traction in the media, and the Daily Mirror reports that the Belgian forward could arrive early if the Reds pay Lille OSC a fee of £5 million.

Liverpool signed the promising young attacker last summer and immediately sent him back to LOSC on loan for the season to gain experience, but a failure by our own forwards to find the back of the net means we need to source goals from somewhere.

Sturridge of course managed 21 goals in the Premier League alone last season, while top scorer Luis Suarez has been sold, and Origi’s six goals in all competitions this term are more than the combined total of Mario Balotelli, Fabio Borini, Rickie Lambert and the unfortunate Sturridge.

Origi was quoted last week as saying he would relish the opportunity to move to Anfield early, but without significant investment from Liverpool, a move will not happen.

Brendan Rodgers will have to add up the value of a prospective January switch – £5m for Origi to arrive six months early may be worthwhile if he fires the club into next season’s UEFA Champions League.
