Sebastian Giovinco to Liverpool: Attacker hints he could leave Juventus on free transfer

The Daily Express have linked Juventus forward Sebastian Giovinco to Liverpool, with Arsenal also reportedly keen on the Italy international.

While a regular in Juve’s 2012-13 Scudetto winning side, Giovinco found himself in and out of the side the following season, and this term he hasn’t been a regular starter.

With his contract up at the end of the season and his peripheral place in the team standings, the 27 year-old’s future is certainly up in the air.

It is something Giovinco is keenly aware of, though he doesn’t expect to leave Turin in January.

“There’s something wrong, that’s obvious,” said the Italy international on his lack of playing time.

“The whole season has been a bit like that, so we’ll see what to do. I don’t think I’ll move in January; we’ll see in June.”

Giovinco has scored just once in 20 appearances for Italy, but hasn’t been a regular starter for his country and so cannot solely be judged on his goal record.

Capable of playing wide as well as up front, the ‘Atomic Ant’ has proved a useful player thanks to his creativity, set piece ability, dribbling skills and tireless running.

He would likely fit in well with Brendan Rodgers’ high pressing strategy, but his small stature could see him struggle in the physical Premier League.

Sebastian Giovinco to Liverpool might be a good option on a free transfer, but he is unlikely to be prolific enough to replace Luis Suarez as a consistent goal threat.
