Brendan Rodgers explains how Liverpool can turn their season around

“We need to be more tenacious,” claims boss…

Reds boss Brendan Rodgers reckons we need to change a number of things on the pitch to turn our fortunes around…

He watched his team lose their fourth match on the trot at the weekend against Crystal Palace, and with the side having won only one game in seven; question marks have been raised over the manager’s future.

We play Ludogorets on Wednesday evening in Bulgaria, knowing a win is needed if we’re to remain with a chance of qualifying from the Champions League group.

“We need to be more tenacious, more aggressive and have a greater capacity to defend better as a team,” the Northern Irishman told Liverpoolfc.com.

“When there are moments to defend, you have to defend better – and that’s something that we’ll look to do.”

Rodgers is not wrong.

The intensity and energy that symbolised our excellent season in 2013/14 is nowhere to be seen right now.

Players are not pressing so relentlessly, and the team dynamic is apparently non-existent.

Against Ludogorets, not only does the team need to defend better, but they need to work harder – and refuse their minnow opponents time and space on the ball, rather than sitting off and allowing them possession.
