Liverpool among favourites to sign Marco Reus, as Chelsea pull out of race, paper claims

Arsenal and Manchester United also interested in 25-year-old…

The Daily Star has constructed a story around the main clubs chasing brilliant German Marco Reus, following quotes made by Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho.

“We don’t want Marco Reus,” said the maverick Portuguese, whose Blues are still unbeaten so far this season.

“The market is closed and the player belongs to Borussia. We have top players in this position.”

As a result of the comments, the newspaper impressively managed to get all four of the biggest English teams in their rather farcical headline.

“Arsenal, Manchester United, and Liverpool FREE to sign Marco Reus after Chelsea pull out of race,” they wrote.

Unfortunately for us, there is no further indication of our interest in Reus, or whether we’d realistically be able to sign the talented German playmaker.

In reality, our best chance to secure his signature would have been during the summer, when we had Champions League football to offer, and a huge transfer budget to use following the £75m sale of Luis Suarez.

Unfortunately, this season is not going to plan, and with Real Madrid also monitoring the Reus situation, our chances of bringing a world-class player to the club like Reus could be pretty slim.
