New signings and team stalwarts both rank highly…
The official website has released a list of the ten names printed on most Liverpool shirts this season.
Unfortunately, the exact numbers haven’t been published – but there’s some interesting new names on the list nonetheless.
10) Emre Can – no.23
The German battler has been one of the most successful of the many summer signings, scoring his only goal for the club so far against Chelsea.
9) Dejan Lovren – no.6
Lovren has failed to find his Anfield feet since his £20m move, and is likely to be dropped for the Champions League tie versus Ludogorets on Wednesday evening.
8) Simon Mignolet – no.22
Our Belgian keeper has improved in recent weeks, and has sold the eighth most shirts in the first-team squad.
7) Jordan Henderson – no.14
The only surprise is perhaps that our vice-captain hasn’t sold more shirts following his superb form in 2013/14.
6) Coutinho – no.10
The Brazilian playmaker wears the iconic no.10 shirt, and has the talent to develop into one of the best attacking midfielders in the Premier League.
5) Adam Lallana – no.20
The Englishman cost £26m in the summer, and has done a fairly good job on the left wing since arriving from Southampton.
4) Raheem Sterling – no.31
The wonderkid might sell even more shirts if he’s given the no.7 next season, which is now available following the Luis Suarez sale.
3) Daniel Sturridge – no.15
The brilliant striker was the second top scorer in the Premier League in 2013/14, but as we all know – injuries have curtailed his entire campaign.
2) Mario Balotelli – no.45
The marquee summer signing wears the no.45 shirt with the Reds – as the two numbers add up to ‘9’ – the most famous striker’s number…
1) Steven Gerrard – no.8
Fittingly, our long-serving captain still sells more shirts than the number of exciting youngsters currently on the club’s books.
