English forward buys new pad…

Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge has bought a £1m flat on the River Mersey, which he will live in with both his parents, the Mirror reports.

The 25-year-old has invited mum Grace and dad Michael into his new place, which has just three bedrooms, its own lift, and a stunning view of the city.

A source (apparently) said:

“They are an incredibly close-knit family and he is very close to both his mum and dad.

“Many footballers can’t wait to get away from their parents when they come into money and fame.

“But Dan has got his feet firmly on the ground and he credits his mum and dad with a lot of his success.

“They are a very religious family and their Jamaican roots mean they believe in maintaining strong ties.”

Sturridge has been spending a lot of time in America recently, in a desperate attempt to alleviate his thigh troubles which have decimated this season so far.

Our striker hasn’t played since August, and the team has badly missed his pace, dynamism and goals.

Largely as a result of his absence, as well as consistent defensive issues and the Luis Suarez sale, we’re sitting 10th in the table, having been knocked out of the Champions League, too.

The striker should be back at some point in January, and we can only hope his return stimulates a second half of the season recovery.
