Brendan Rodgers denies transfer gossip linking Mario Balotelli with exit

The Boss was speaking in his pre-Swansea press conference.

There were a number of media reports over the festive period that claimed Liverpool might be planning on cutting losses with our £16 million summer signing following a difficult transition period since he moved from AC Milan.

In fact, Rob Shepherd at the Daily Mail went so far as to ridiculously claim we were considering a loan move for Fernando Torres (!) with an eye for a permanent deal all whilst sending Mario on-loan to Napoli to rock up with our legendary former manager Rafa Benitez.

Whilst it was difficult to take such a grandiose claim seriously, especially as it came from a paper with the Mail’s credibility, Brendan Rodgers addressed the issue head on in his press conference before Swansea City visit Anfield next Monday.

Our boss told the assembled media the key for him was to keep the current squad of players together.

It’s good that Rodgers has dismissed talk like this so early on rather than let it manifest and be used as a stick to continually beat Mario with when he returns to first team action.
