Five things you need to go about Liverpool’s youth team goalkeeper.

As we reported earlier today, with Brad Jones out of contention for the Reds welcome of Swansea on Monday, Brendan Rodgers has hinted youth keeper Danny Ward could be on the bench as back-up to Simon Mignolet.

Here are five things you need to know about the Liverpool, goalkeeping youngster:

1) Liverpool secured the services of Ward in January 2012 from Wrexham for a fee reported to be around £100,000. Ward signed for Wrexham as a 14 year old .

2) Ward was given his first senior debut for Wrexham, when he was loaned back to the Welsh side for a one off game against their Blue Square Bet Premier League rivals Tamworth. Ward turned in a man of the match performance for the side.

3) Ward has played at almost every level for Wales except full senior level; putting in performances at schoolboy, U17, U19 and U21 level.

4) Ward has yet to make his full Liverpool debut but was taken on the North American tour in 2012 and was provided with the first team squad number 52 that season – a number he has kept since.

5) You can wish Ward luck for his stint on the first team bench through his Twitter account: @dan_ward52.
