Brendan Rodgers doesn’t want to loan out Mario Balotelli

Italian not available for loan…

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is not considering loaning £16m striker Mario Balotelli this January transfer window, reports ESPN.

There have been suggestions that we would consider lending Balotelli to an Italian club with Sampdoria and Napoli most heavily credited with an interest in his signature.

However, Rodgers is adamant that it’s not a possibility when the window opens in less than a week.

“It’s not something I’ve even thought about, to be honest,” he began.

“We’ve had a lot of games this season in a lot of competitions, and at the moment, the key for me is to try to keep the squad together.”

Balotelli has badly struggled on Merseyside since arriving during the summer. He’s failed to bag a Premier League goal yet, and after suffering a hamstring injury in November, he’s not been able to force his way back into the side…

In his place, Raheem Sterling is now playing as a ‘false 9’ in a 3-4-3 system, which doesn’t suit Balotelli’s attributes.

The 24-year-old was also publicly criticised by Rodgers recently for not suiting our style, although it appears he’ll be sticking around until the summer at least.
