Five brilliant Steven Gerrard moments you’ve probably forgotten about

Remember these wonderful Gerrard moments…?

Courtesy of This Is Anfield, here are five moments in Steven Gerrard’s illustrious 17-year Liverpool career you might have forgotten about…

1) TNS 2005/06

This season was arguably the height of Gerrard’s powers as an individual. Having just won the Champions League, we were allowed to enter the competition at the preliminary stages the next term – and were drawn against Welsh minnows TNS in the first qualification round. In two legs, Gerrard bagged five goals – including one wonder-strike. At times, even Liverpool fans felt sorry for the opposition.

Below is every goal he scored that season, with the first five versus TNS.

2) Everton 1998/99

Gerrard was but an 18-year-old during this fixture, in which he only actually played for 17 minutes from the bench. We were leading 3-1 at the time, and the baby-faced midfielder made two goal-line clearances which helped us secure the points.

2) Inter Milan 2007/08

When Inter Milan were one of the best sides in Europe, Steven Gerrard and co. totally dismantled them in the Champions League. With Dirk Kuyt giving us the lead, Gerrard bagged from thirty yards late on to cap a wonderful evening, and an unbelievably accomplished individual performance.

3) Charlton Athletic 2002/03

With four games left of the Premier League campaign, we needed a win to keep our chances of Champions League qualification alive. With the scores level at 1-1, Gerrard broke past three Addicks’ tackles and rifled a shot into the near post, sending the Anfield crowd into raptures.

4) Napoli 2010/11

Liverpool were 1-0 down in the Europa League to Napoli, and then they brought their captain on at half-time… Gerrard notched a hat-trick, and literally dragged his side to the victory. On this Thursday evening, he was head and shoulders above everybody else on the pitch.
