For the second time this season, mercurial Brazilian Coutinho has collected the Liverpool Player of the month award, the official website announced.

The 22-year-old also won the award in November, and he’s especially thrived since Brendan Rodgers switched to a 3-4-3 formation.

“It means so much. As I always say, it gives me even more confidence to deliver on the pitch knowing that I’ve been voted by the fans. It is very important to me,” Coutinho said.

“We had a lot of games in December and I had the opportunity to play regularly.

“I want to keep improving every game to help the team as much as I can. I’m always keen to improve and do my best to help Liverpool.”

Coutinho scored versus Arsenal, and registered assists against Burnley and Swansea – playing especially brilliantly against the Welsh.

Versus Sunderland tomorrow, he’s expected to start in attacking midfield – probably dovetailing Raheem Sterling with either Lazar Markovic or Steven Gerrard alongside him due to Adam Lallana’s injury.

While Coutinho has undoubtedly been playing well recently, if he adds more consistent end product to his performances then we’ll be talking about one of the most exciting players in the entire Premier League.

In 2014/15, he’s registered a modest two Premier League goals and two Premier League assists, and we’ll need him to boost those figures in the second half of the campaign.
