Our on-loan winger may be rocking up at Anfield this January.

Brendan Rodgers has confirmed that we have opened talks with Lille about a possible return to Liverpool for Divock Origi.

The Belgian joined us last season in a £10 million move but Rodgers, quite cleverly at the time, decided to immediately loan back the exciting forward to the Ligue 1 club on a season long loan.

However, in his press conference yesterday the Boss confirmed we were trying to bring the 19 year old back to Anfield this January.

“He will certainly be here next summer.” said the Boss, reports the Daily Mail. “Whether he’ll be here in January, there have been discussions.

“The agreement is with Lille for him to stay there, so we’ll see how that works. If not we’ll work with what we’ve got.”

The move could be seen as a clever one with Mario Balotelli, Rickie Lambert and Fabio Borini hardly filling us with confidence when chosen upfront this season.

Daniel Sturrdige is also back in full training and after the injury nightmares we’ve had with him this season, easing him back is surely the best move.

However, we did already pay £10m for Origi and with Lille demanding £5m to release him early, it would mean we’ve splashed out a quite expensive £15m in total on an Premier League unproven winger, and one that has hardly had a stellar season so far.

Is this the best move from Brendan or could the money be better spent elsewhere?
