Ranking Liverpool’s ten most accurate passers this season – only one player hits 90% + success rate

Defenders top the list so far…

Here’s our ten most accurate passers this term in the Premier League.

Jordon Ibe should actually be top with 100%, but as he’s only played five minutes of football for us this season we left him out!

Ten Bosman free transfers Liverpool would be MAD not to consider, with Brazilian striker & Italian centre-back

10) Javier Manquillo – 82.8% success rate

The young Spaniard has been used as a right-back and a right wing-back this campaign, and has done well enough to justify our two-year loan move for him in the summer.

9) Glen Johnson – 83.3% success rate

The 30-year-old Englishman has had his season mostly decimated by injuries, and he’s started just the ten matches. He’s expected to leave in the summer on the expiration of his contract.

8) Emre Can – 84.2% success rate

The German powerhouse is now a fixture in our back-three, and these stats would be higher if they were based solely on his performances in defence – but he appeared in central midfield early on – where his passes would have been more ambitious.

7) Steven Gerrard – 86.1% success rate

The captain’s passing success rate is interestingly the highest it’s ever been in a Liverpool shirt. This is probably because of the deeper midfield role he’s been predominantly asked to play, where his role is to dictate tempo and maintain possession instead of solely creating chances.

6) Lucas Leiva – 86.3% success rate

The Brazilian has been superb since Brendan Rodgers reinstated him to the side. He averages the most tackles per match (4) and the second most interceptions per match (2), as well.

5) Dejan Lovren – 87.4% success rate

The Croatian centre-half can’t get into the side right now because of the excellent form of Mamaduo Sakho on the left of the back-three, but it’s consistent defensive mistakes that saw him dropped rather than poor passing.

4) Joe Allen – 88.5% success rate

The Welshman is the highest placed midfielder on the list. He hasn’t played since mid-December because of an injury though, but is on the road to recovery.

3) Mamadou Sakho – 88.8% success rate

The physical Frenchman has barely put a foot wrong since returning from injury, and fans are delighted that he’s justifying his 2013 £15m price-tag. His passing is not especially nice to look at – but at these stats prove, they usually meet their desired target.

2) Kolo Toure – 89.1% success rate

The Ivorian has started six Premier League matches for us this term, and appeared from the bench on two occasions. He’s happy to play a bit-part role, and he’s clearly a very popular member of the dressing room, too.

1) Martin Skrtel – 91.5% success rate

No player has a more accurate passing success rate than Skrtel, who’s very much enjoyed his role at the centre of our back-three. From here, he’s asked to play simple passes to his fellow midfielders, or sharper ones forward to a waiting midfielder. He rarely goes long, as is the requirement of our passing football.
